Keaton nods, rolling to his back and spreading his arms. “Then you have it. Whatever you need to make you comfortable. Always, butterfly.”
Reaching under the pillows, I grab the roll of condoms I put under there. As much as I’m ready for this step with Keaton, I’m not ready for it to be without protection.
His eyes latch onto the foil packets, and anguish flashes in his eyes before understanding and acceptance settle on his face.
Then he does the thing that makes me fall for him all over again. He puts me at ease.
“Climb up, beautiful. It seems you have a busy night planned,” he quips with a wink.
I smirk as I place them on his chest so I can pull his jeans off. “Think you have it in you, dragon boy?”
His hands fall to my hips as I straddle him. “Being buried inside the woman who owns me all night? Damn straight, I do, butterfly.”
I roll the condom over his length and hold him at my entrance. “We’ll see.”
We both groan as I slide down slowly.
“Eyes on me, baby. Let me see all that power in them as you own the fuck out of me.” His fingers dig into my thighs hard enough that I’m sure I’ll have bruises tomorrow. “You look so fucking beautiful, taking your place upon your throne, my queen.”
Blood hums in my veins as I bounce, bringing my hips down with a twirl. Our eyes stay glued to one another, both of us needing that connection.
I crave the deep need of a slow ride for our first time.
His whispered words of love and affection fill me with power.
Keaton places his feet on the floor, his knees creating a back rest for me as I rise and fall over him.
“Look at you,” he croons. “You’re so close, baby. Take it. Take everything you need from me. Whatever you want, it’s yours.”
I grind my hips against him tighter, putting enough pressure on my clit that lightning zips up my spine.
Then it rushes over me in molten waves.
A pleasure so intense that a keening sound rips from me as I throw my head back and shatter all over him.
He groans, and his cock jerks inside me as he fills the condom. I drop beside him with a happy sigh, closing my eyes as contentment settles inside me.
Keaton moves around beside me. I peek my eyes open to find him tying off the condom before turning back and pulling me into his arms.
The living room is quiet except for our harsh pants.
“I love you, Charlie. And I’m so damn proud of you. You’re strong in a way I’m not sure I’ll ever be.”
“I love you too. I run my fingers through his hair when he buries his face in my neck at my work. “Waking up every day and choosing to be better than the person you were yesterday takes strength. Don’t ever doubt yourself.”
“Thank you for giving me the chance to love you the right way this time. To prove to you that I’m sorry and show you that I’ll never be that person again.”
My eyes are drifting closed when he whispers, “We’re going to be okay.”
“Promise?” I murmur.
“To the depths of my soul,” he promises in a low tone.
My trust in him is being built, piece by shattered piece. Some days it’s easy, some days it’s not. But I refuse to let the hard days win. Keaton is no longer the boy who broke me, and I’m no longer the girl who blindly trusted a childhood love. We’ve grown. We’ve matured. We’ve been through a pain that I wasn’t sure we’d ever recover from.
The boy Keaton once was shattered me, but the man he’s become is piecing me back together.
We’ll never be who we were.
