“Aht aht, don’t bring up old stuff,” Spice said, getting into the car. “We didn’t know what was going on and you started hollering and my brother wasn’t about to go to jail.”
“How about we start over?” Tyler suggested. “I’m Tyler, but you can call me Ty.”
“Hey Tyyyyy,” the twins sang.
Logic opened his mouth to ask where Sage was, but seconds later he came bopping out the front door. It was easy to see the type of influence Logic had over him, and if Tyler didn’t know any better, she would’ve thought they were father and son. Sage was trying his best to be cool, but Tyler’s presence had him slightly rattled.
“My bad yall,” he said as he climbed in the back seat. “I had to freshen up.”
“Boy bye. You done had on the same shorts for three days. You hear Ty in the car and wanna wash up,” Shugg snitched.
“Oop,” Spice laughed out loud.
“Chill,” Logic chuckled, but they were right.
“Anyway, how you doing? The last time we met, I was a little underdressed.” Sage stuck his hand out for Tyler to shake, but Shugg slapped it down.
“Now I know you were not about to touch that girl's hand with them beaters. You were in the bathroom for hours this morning. There’s probably lotion still under your nails.”
“No, wait, I-I wasn’t,” Sage stuttered.
“Cut that shit out,” Logic hissed.
“My bad.” Shugg threw her hands up in defense, but leaned into Tyler and whispered, “Shake his hand at your own risk.”
Tyler laughed under her breath as the siblings went back and forth with one another. She couldn’t remember the last time she laughed like that, and it was much needed.
???
Almost two hours later, Logic pulled up to a gated community in Rochester Hills. The homes were bigger than anything he’d ever seen, and while he tried not to act awestruck, Logic was super fucking impressed. This was the type of community he wanted to move his siblings to, if not better. He could hear them in the back oohing and aahing at the mansion's fountains and funny shaped trees.
“Man, I can’t wait till we get a house like this,” Spice said in awe. “I’m never going to move out.”
“And you’ll never have to,” Logic swore, pulling into Rahlo’s circular driveway.
“You hear that, Ty. So when y’all get married, you can’t put me out.”
“What makes you think I wanna marry your brother?”
“Because he’s a great person, duh,” Shugg stated.
“He’s the best,” Spice added.
Parking behind Czar’s Benz truck, Logic glanced over at Tyler. The corner of her lip was tucked into her mouth as she stared out the window. He could feel her uneasiness across the car and almost felt bad for suggesting they go out.
“You ready, baby girl?” He palmed her knee as if he could see the inner battle she was having with herself.
“Yes,” Tyler answered, clearing her throat.
“Cool, come on.”
Logic waited for everyone to exit the truck before walking up to the big wooden door. He didn’t have to knock because an older black man opened the door with a scowl on his face.
“We don’t do charities, I believe in God, and no, you can’t meet Rah,” he grunted, trying to shut the door in their face.
“Papa,” a soft voice called out. “Let them in.”
“I didn’t move in to be your butler,” he fussed. “I moved to get away from your bad ass brother, but shit, your kids are just as bad. At this point, put me in a retirement home.”
