I’ve never been someone’s reward before and I’m finding that I quite like the idea.
Turning in his arms, I lift on my toes, cup his jaw and kiss him like I’ve wanted to kiss him all day. I laugh when I feel his leg kick the front door shut, a squeak escaping me when he proceeds to tear his lips from mine and sweep me up into his arms likeI’mthe bride and he’s carrying me over the threshold. The move doesn’t just have me swooning, it confirms what I’ve realized since he told me about the Call. I’m a done deal.
Signed, sealed, delivered by the mountain to Sutton Cooper. Do not return to sender. Keep forever.
Without missing a beat or breaking a sweat, he takes us to my bedroom before putting a knee to the bed and gently easing me down onto the mattress.
My heart races. Excitement bubbles up within me. Overriding all of that is the desperate burning need I have to meld my heart, body and soul to his.
The tension and heat is thick between us as he hovers over me, his dark eyes roaming my face, his body as close as it can be without touching. Reaching up, I loop my arms around his back and pull him down into me, relishing his weight against me and using my mouth to say everything I want him to know.
I lick into his mouth, whimpering when he tilts his head and deepens the kiss.
Covered by him, feeling him, has me feeling cherished, safe, andverymuch wanted. I’m downright feverish with desire and nearly coming out of my skin.
“Sutton,” I say, dragging my fingers into his hair and holding him to me as we devour each other, my body moving in perfect sync with his as he rocks against me. “I want to feel you. Your skin. Your hands. Everything.” Each word breathed like a prayer as he tears his lips from mine and stares deep into my eyes. “I want to be with you. I want to be yours.”
His gaze his blazing, his pupils blown, his lips as puffy and swollen as mine feel. Time stands still, so lost in each other that the world could stop spinning and we wouldn’t know. “You already are,” he growls.
That’s when whatever self-control we both have snaps and in the next breath, we’re tearing away at each other’s clothes, both of us desperate to have nothing between us.
“God, you’re beautiful,” he rasps, crawling up my body. I grip his arms and pull him to me, our mouths meshing once more while I explore his back, touching every inch of smooth skin and hard muscle I can.
He drags his lips from mine and chuckles at my huff of disappointment. That soon turns to a soft moan when he peppers my throat with kisses, his hands and mouth exploring at the same time, muddling my senses in the best possible way.
His touch sets me alight. I’m not just a moth drawn to his blinding flame, it’s every single thing about him. It’s his soul, his heart, and unassuming character that has me addicted.
With him kissing, touching and exploring me like I’m his personal paradise, I stop thinking and let myself justfeel. Letting my instincts take over, I do the same to him, running my fingers through the dark hair covering his chest and following its lead down over his toned stomach.
“I must be dreamin’,” he murmurs to himself, dragging his body down the bed and giving my aching breasts the attention they desperately want.
“If you’re dreaming, I am too,” I say, giggling when he nuzzles his nose over my sternum. He rests his chin there and looks up at me, his eyes alight with heat, desire and yet there’s a new brightness to them. He’s happy. I make this wonderful, amazing, one-of-a-kind man happy.
“Ticklish?”
“Maybe…” I say, my lips twitching as he does it again and pulls the exact same laughter out of me.
“Hmm. Gonna remember that,” he says, his smile so natural, so free.Damn sexy too.
I tug him back to me, crashing my lips to his, seeking and earning a gratifyingly low groan that rumbles through his chest to mine.
“I feel like a kid at Christmas,” he says, burying his face into my neck and rolling his hips against mine, his hard length hot and pressing, teasing and tempting me and driving me crazy. “Don’t know where to start.”
I cradle his face in my hands and pull him back so he’s all I can see. “Everything, Sutt. I want everything with you. But right now, I want to feel you do what we both want.” He groans again, pressing his forehead to mine.
“There ain’t no way my One is the most gorgeous woman I’ve ever laid eyes on and perfect too. Don’t know what I’ve done to deserve you, but I’m not givin’ you up,” he says.
“Same goes. Cause I’m lying beneath the most handsome, thoughtful, made-for-me man in the world,” I say, flexing my fingers in his short-cut beard on his cheeks and drawing his lips to rest on mine, our eyes locked in the dim light. “Make love to me, Sutton. Make me yours. Complete the Call so that nothing and no one can ever come between us.”
He stares deep into my gaze, his smell surrounding me, intoxicating me the same way it’s always done since the first day we met. His body is hot and heavy against mine, trembling with shaky self-control, his eyes filled with a raw intensity few get to see.
This is as open and as vulnerable as a person can be and knowing I can give him the safety to do that, for him to give me his heart and trust that I’ll cherish it forever makes me more sure of this–of him–than ever. This is how we were always meant to be.
Of course, that’s when Sutton proves that he’s not just perfect, he’severything.
He braces himself on an arm and rocks my world with three unbelievable words.
“I love you, Blair. It doesn’t matter if you’re not there yet but I needed to tell you. This is it for me.You’reit for me. I think you always have been, we just didn’t know it.” I can’t stop the lone tear that trails down my cheek or my heart from bursting as he continues. “I needed you to know, before I take you. Before I make you mine like you were always meant to be. I want togive you everything you want and could ever need. I want to make your dreams come true, ourdreams, together. I want you. I need you. But most of all, I just want to be the one to make you happy.”
