Dee: Did you think that they were all a bit familiar when you were reading them?
Cora’s name pops up as if she’s typing. Then it stops for a spell… then starts again.
Cora: I’m not sure how to answer this. Star, you wanna step in here?
Star: Why are you bringing ME into this?
Cora: Because you’re the last one to go through all of this?
All of what?
Leah: It's times like now I wish I wasn't thousands of miles away from all of y’all right now.
Star: It would definitely be a lot easier if you were here and able to help her navigate all of this.
Navigate what?
Cora: I think we need to start a reading club. Maybe we should schedule a night where we all get together to talk about books…
Dee: I feel like I’m missing a HUGE part of a puzzle and y’all know what it is. Can’t you just tell me now?
Cora: It’s tricky.
Star: VERY tricky.
Mags: Hell, ladies. It’s not that tricky at all. Dee, the reason why you’re thinking that parts of the books seem familiar is because they ARE familiar.
My mouth drops open as I stare at the message.
Dee: WHAT?!?
Leah: I know we’re talking cryptically, Dee, and I wish we could tell you more. But this journey is one of discovery and it’s one only YOU can take. Just keep reading, I’m sure you’ll come up with many more questions as you go and we’ll all be here to try and answer them for you.
Dee: I’m so confused. Why is it a big secret? I think its cool.
Star: You do?
Leah: Yeah, it IS cool. There’s just more to it.
Mags: We wouldn’t steer you wrong, Dee. But you need to keep reading. If you have more questions, we might even be able to put you in touch with Aster herself.
Dee: Really? Do you know her? She's one of my favorite authors.
Cora: Haha mine too! See, I knew we were friends for a reason. We’ve got good taste.
Leah: Dee, can I ask you a question, I had a weird dream and I wanted to ask if you knew why I keep seeing butterflies?
Dee: I don’t know. Do they have some sort of significance or something?
Leah: Don’t worry, maybe I just ate too much cheese before going to bed.
Mags: There ain’t no such thing as too much cheese, Lee. I’ve told y’all that. Butterflies must mean something. Star?
Star: They’re often associated with good luck and eternal life. Also a transformation of some type, or a massive upheaval.
Leah: And now it makes sense. Thanks Star.
Cora: Sorry we couldn’t be more help, Dee. I promise you, the more you read, the more you’ll understand.
