“I think that would be amazing.”Adair took a sip of his liquor.“I have to admit, even though I usually run with my brother and parents, I’ve always felt lonely.It would be nice being around our kind, who isn’t blood related.”
Tavish nodded.“Agreed.Wanna be my beta?”
“Is that how these things are done?”
“Fuck if I know,” Tavish admitted.“Making things up as I go.”
Chapter Fourteen
Tavish rolled overand tried to bury his head into his pillows to get a few more minutes of shuteye.Unfortunately, now that his mind was awake there wasn’t any way he was falling back asleep.He wasn’t built like that, so with a sigh, he rose and headed into the bathroom.After using the toilet and washing his hands, he brushed his teeth and combed his wayward hair.The night run streamed through his head in high-def and he couldn’t believe how much he now enjoyed turning into this wolf.
He had to return to Edinburgh for an afternoon meeting with his solicitors over his new acquisition, but once that was done, he planned to fly back to Colorado since he had a mate to woo.Leaving his bedroom, he made his way downstairs to the kitchen where his cook greeted him with a smile.
“Morning, m’laird,” she said.
“Morning, Jackie,” he replied, sneaking a small scone away as he headed to the coffeepot and poured himself a cup.
“Your guest is already eating in the dining room.”
“Thanks,” he said.
He’d get Adair home and then head to the office.Just as he was about to bite the scone, he stepped into the dining room and realized it wasn’t Adair who sat there.It was Mairi.
“Your friend left,” she said with a smile.“Courtesy of your gran.She was nice enough to give me a lift here and give Adair a lift home.”
He hurried over to her, setting down his cup and scone to pull her to her feet in order to hug her.Then he kissed her before cradling her face.
“I was coming back to you.”
“I know,” she murmured.“I beat you.”
“Aye, that you did.”He smiled.“I hope you have the next fifty years free, Mrs.MacAlary.”
“Perhaps.What do you have in mind?”
“A little this, a little that,” he said as he kissed her neck.Then he scooped her up into his arms, and she gave a little squeal as she threw her arms around his neck.“I think I’ll call in sick and have my delicious way with you.”
