“Then, cancel it.”
Her breathing hitched. “Are we doing this again?!”
Delight filled me because she looked so fucking happy. “We are.”
“I know it might take a while.” Her brow furrowed. “My cycle has to regulate and?—”
“It’ll take however long it takes,” I assured her. “We’re in no rush, but we’re definitely planning this, right?”
“Right.” She beamed at me, then released a squeal as she tightened her arms around my neck. “I have the best husband in the world!”
I shook my head. “Oh, sweetheart, you don’t, but I can only try.”
“My opinion is the only one that counts. Nobody else’s.”
Because I could tell she was on the brink of turning militant and my dick couldn’t have withstood that, I distracted her: “Ready to see your surprise?”
She nodded as I guided her toward one of the guest bedrooms. I’d honestly thought about getting rid of my pool room, but I had fond memories of that pool table and didn’t intend on denying myself the thrill that came every game I played.
So, I’d sacrificed a guest room.
If that meant I couldn’t have my whole family stay here, then boo hoo. They could fuck off to their own places.
Her brow furrowed as we hovered outside one of the doors. “This looks… different.” She angled her head to the side and muttered, “Is that an AC controller?”
“No. It just looks like it.” Pinning her to the wall, I tapped a button. The temperature controls faded. I pressed my finger to the touch screen and it scanned my retina. “Later, I’ll add your details to this.”
Her eyes widened but she nodded.
“Only you and I will be able to get in here.”
Her mouth worked. “Is that necessary?”
“Safety. Security. My watch words with you.”
“God, you and Eoghan,” she grumbled, but she didn’t look too upset.
I had to figure that Eoghan and I had lucked out on the wife department just for this alone—both of them knew what it was like for their homes to be infiltrated. They knew that safety was relative, so they didn’t have a problem with us being security zealots.
When the door unlocked, I murmured, “Safe room. Reinforced walls?—”
“Holy shit!” She twisted in my hold, which did interesting things down below. “This is why we’ve been at Eoghan’s so much this week!”
“Long-term planning. He’s not the only sneak.”
“That isn’t as reassuring as you think.”
“This will hold until I can get to you, and if I can’t, one of my brothers.” I cupped her shoulder as I tried to condense my fears for the future without scaring her. “I’m not saying this to freak you out?—”
“No. You’re just telling me that I’m your priority.” A gleam appeared in her eyes. “That is never not a compliment.”
“Good to know.” I smirked when, really, I was relieved I didn’t have to sell the idea to her. “Ready?”
“God, yes.”
I motioned at her to open the door, and she grabbed the handle now that it was unlocked.
Turning it, she peered around the corner then gasped. “Oh, my god!”
