When a soft tap sounded at my door, I didn’t bother moving, just called over my shoulder, “Come in.”

He arched a brow when he saw me standing by the windows. “You spying?”

“On Betty checking out your ass? What’s the problem? That she’s staring seventy-five in the face or that she pats your cheek like you’re a toddler?”

“She gave me iced tea.”

“On my orders.”

He gaped at me. “What the hell?!”

“I knew you were coming to collect me and didn’t want coffee breath to spoil my ‘hello’ kiss.”

“Ohhh. Why didn’t you just say so? That’s what gum is for, wife,” Finn growled, depositing the iced tea with a glower on a coaster on my desk—yes, it had taken the entire length of our marriage to train him to do that—and striding over to me.

I let him sweep me up in his arms with a happy sigh. My own slid along his shoulders, my wrists crossing at the back of his neck.

A warm glint appeared in his eyes. “Where’s Jake?”

“With Star. I said we’d collect him on the way home.”

He hummed. “This dress is new.”

“Mayyyybe.”

“No maybe about it.” He pulled back a little so he could stare at it. “Ohh, it was tea with the coven today, wasn’t it?”

“We’re not witches.”

“I never said you were. But they definitely are.” He clucked his tongue. “Let me guess, Star’s set fire to something and wanted Savannah to convince Aidan to let her get away with it?”

“Don’t be mean.”

“I’m being realistic. Or do I mean pragmatic? Or, hell, optimistic?”

“You mean all three.” I released a soft laugh at his knowing look. “Star hasn’t set fire to anything as far as I’m aware. Though, Savannah was in a mood.”

“Ahh. That’d explain why Aidan blew a fuse, huh?”

“Your meeting was with him?”

He just shrugged.

Enough said…

“She slept in the guest bedroom.”

His brows shot up so high they almost touched his hairline. “Jesus Christ.”

“Yep. He never mentioned it?”

“Not really. He was grouchier than usual. It led to him and Brennan getting into a fistfight.”

“Wow.”

“They’ve been bitching at each other for weeks. Mostly, I was glad for them to get it out of their system.”

“Who won?”
