I covered my face because there was no denying it now. Big Bertha was the most potent balm I made, not for everyone. Bringing it out meant something. He was special.

“Ahh, you like him. So did you get some dick the other night? Is the drought over?”

Both of them stared at me.

“We just watched Derby footage.”

“Girl, if you don’t stop playing—”

“Fine!” I laughed. “We didn’t watch derby footage. We... had a good time. A really good time.Multiple times.”

Tessa dramatically fell back on the mat. “I knew it! I knew you were glowing for a reason!”

“How was it?” Sametra asked, leaning forward. “Scale of one to ten.”

“I’m not rating my man’s performance.”

“That good, huh?”

I bit my lip, trying not to smile. “It was... really good. Like, better than I expected. And I expected a lot.”

“Details,” Tessa demanded.

“Absolutely not, baby girl. Some things are private. Like how his dick tickled my throat deliciously.”

I laughed, and her mouth dropped.

“Close your mouth, friend. He’s... attentive. And he knows what he’s doing. And he wasn’t shy about making sure I enjoyed myself.Multiple times.”

Tessa sat up. “So what now? Are y’all official?”

“I told him we go together now and he didn’t disagree, so yeah, that’s my man, my man, my man, my baby,” I sang.

“That’s official, babe,” Tessa said. “You got a whole boyfriend.”

“I guess I do.”

“You guess?” Tessa laughed. “Girl, the man honored you at his charity gala, beat up your coworker, and fucked you into next week. That’s a boyfriend.”

My One and Only:You ignoring me now that you got the dick?

I laughed out loud.

“What?” Sametra asked.

“DaVinci’s being dramatic.”

Before I could respond to his message, Sametra’s eyes went wide, looking past me. “Well, we talked his ass up.”

When I looked up, DaVinci was already headed straight for me, looking so damn good that the room got quiet in my head. He didn’t clock anybody else. His eyes were locked on me.

I was so happy to see him, I just sat there staring like he didn’t belong to me, like this was my first time seeing him.

“Is that—” Tessa started.

“Yup,” Sametra said, grinning. “You definitely got a boyfriend, girl.”

He reached us and smiled down at me. “What’s up, Angel baby?”
