Savannah shot her a look. “Goodbye, Mallory.”

Mallory grinned. “Make good choices, Monroe.”

Then she was gone.

And suddenly, it was just the two of them.

Chase pushed off the counter, stepping closer. “I’ll clean up, then we can start something.”

Savannah chewed on her lip, hesitating.

Then, before she could second-guess herself, she spoke. “Hey, um… would it be okay if I took a shower first? I know I’ll probably fall asleep before the movie’s over.”

His lips twitched slightly. “Yeah. Of course.”

And then, before she could walk away, his fingers brushed against her arm. Just the faintest touch. But it sent a shockwave of heat through her, so quick and potent she almost stumbled.

His voice dipped lower, teasing. “Need anything? A t-shirt? A warm towel?”

Savannah swallowed hard. “I—I’m good.”

His smirk deepened, his gazeknowing. “Mmm.”

Damn him.

With one last glance, she turned and headed upstairs, her heart pounding in her chest.

Because she was alone.

In his house.

With him downstairs.

And all she could think about was whether she’d actually make it through that movie…

Or if she’d finally, finally stopwaiting.

The second Savannah stepped into Chase’s bathroom, she knew immediately—it was him.

Everything about it screamed Chase.

Dark walls, deep navy towels, sleek black fixtures. The kind of sharp, understated elegance that felt effortless. But what caught her attention wasn’t the perfectly designed space.

It was the bathtub.

A claw-footed soaking tub sat against the far wall, positioned beneath a massive window overlooking the sound. It was stunning, bathed in the soft glow of the moon, the water outside stretching endlessly into the night.

Her fingers traced absently along the cool porcelain edge, her pulse a slow, steady hum.

She could imagine it—him in here, steam curling around his body, head tipped back, eyes closed.

She swallowed hard.

Jesus.

Forcing herself to move, she turned the shower on, hot water rushing to drown out her thoughts. Steam curled around her, wrapping her in warmth as she stepped inside, letting the spray wash over her skin.

But it didn’t wash away the thoughts.
