Savannah laughed softly, shaking her head. “It felt like that.”

Mallory smirked. “Tell me he at least let you help.”

Savannah grinned. “Nope. He told me to sit there, look beautiful, and talk to him. Said he wanted to impress me.”

Mallory threw her head back with a laugh. “Oh, he’s good. And what did you two talk about?”

Savannah exhaled, her fingers tracing invisible patterns on the table. “Everything. Life, dreams, regrets… old relationships.”

Mallory sobered a little, tilting her head. “Did he mention Trevor?”

Savannah hesitated, then nodded. “Yeah. He did.”

Mallory leaned in, curiosity flickering across her face. “And?”

Savannah exhaled, fingers tightening around her glass. “He said he hated watching me with him. That every girl he was with was just him trying to forget me. And that it never worked.”

Mallory’s expression softened. “Damn.”

“Yeah.”

A beat of silence.

Then Mallory waggled her brows. “So—did you fuck?”

Savannah groaned. “Jesus, Mal.”

Mallory shrugged. “I mean, c’mon! I can practically see you dripping, from here. Plus— he’s got big dick energy, and the sexual tension between you two has been cooking for years. I thought for sure you’d finally do something about it.”

Savannah bit her lip, hesitating.

Mallory’s eyes widened. “Holy shit. You did—”

Savannah cut her off. “No! We didn’t fuck. But we—kissed.”

Mallory clutched her chest. “Oh, thank God. If you had left that date without at least making out, I was going to fight you.”

Savannah shook her head, laughing. “It wasn’t just a kiss, Mal. It was—everything.”

Mallory’s grin faded slightly, her voice softer. “Yeah?”

Savannah nodded, staring at her hands. “It was years of waiting, of missing him, of wondering what it would’ve been like if we had just… gone for it back then. And then suddenly, it wasn’t a question anymore. He kissed me like he’d been waiting his whole life for it.”

Mallory exhaled, shaking her head. “Damn. That’s some movie shit right there.”

Savannah smiled, her heart still racing at the memory. “It felt like one.”

Mallory smirked. “And did he?” Lifting her arms to see if something was being left out.

Savannah exhaled. “No. He kissed me like he was ready to devour me, then stopped. Said he didn’t want to rush. That he wanted to do it right.”

Mallory’s mouth dropped open. “Oh my God. That’s—that’s fucking hotter than if he had just fucked you.”

Savannah laughed. “I know, right?!”

Mallory shook her head. “That man is dangerous.”

Savannah’s stomach flipped. “Tell me about it.”
