“You owe me for passing that up when you didn’t even want me. You better put that pussy on me, you lil’ fine muthafucka. You hear me?”
“Yes.”
“Just because I said I can tell you didn’t fuck him doesn’t mean that I’m worried about that shit, Carteay. I’m not worried about another man touching you because he could never fuck you like I fuck you. He couldn’t fill my spaces even if he tried.”
I kept laughing but decided against indulging in his crazy. “When was the last time you went to church? I can tell you’ve been slipping.” I asked him.
“We can go Sunday. You know my mama would love that.”
“I would love to go,” I cooed.
A soft smile played on his lips before he spoke again. “Before, I asked you to let me take care of you. Now, I’m no longer asking for permission. From now on, you will trust me to have your best interest in mind and make the best decisions for us. I’m never going to fuck over you or try to control your career. I don’t want to run your life, but when it comes to handling any kind of threat, disrespect, or any type of bullshit, understand that that’s my arena. Let me handle that. Are we clear?” My simple nod must have been enough for him to continue. “Let me be the man, Carteay. I’m never going to demand anything of you without proving myself.”
“OK.” I nodded.
“I’m going to work my ass off every day to earn and keep your trust. You have to let me in and give me a chance to do that. Don’t try to protect me, Carteay. I got me, and I damn sure got you. You never have to fear another muthafucka breathing as long as you live. Do you understand what I’m saying to you? There is blood on anything connected to me.”
Blinking back the tears that threatened to fall, I reached out and touched his face. The sense of security I felt when I was around Kannon was almost bizarre. I felt like I could do anything, face anyone. I felt like I could actually be free of my contract without losing everything I’d worked so hard for. That wasn’t the only reason I leaned forward and brushed my lips against his, but it was major.
“I love you, Kannon.”
“Hmph. Being all sweet ain’t gon’ stop me from fucking the shit out of you, Carteay. We might need to stop and get you a plan B, C, DandE.”
“Kannon, shut up!” I cackled.
“I don’t want you to think I’m trying to get you pregnant and fuck up your career. I want all the success in the world for you, but ain’t no pulling out tonight,” Kannon warned.
“What happened to wearing a condom?”
“A little piece a rubber ain’t gon’ hold this. I got something for you as soon as we get where we’re going. You had me out here going crazy and waiting on you to call me for two months. I’ma put it in your life.”
I threw my head back laughing, but I was sure Kannon knew I looked forward to him fulfilling his promise. Just in case he didn’t know, I told him.
“I’m holding you to that.”
“You looked pretty as hell in that silky, pink dress. It was so pretty like that pink pussy. I have some silk ties that very same shade.”
“You can forget that. You arenottying me up.”
“I thought we were past that, C. I told you I’m not gon’ leave you tied up again.”
“You got that right.”
“What I gotta do? Tell me how to make it up to you.”
Cocking my head to the side, I folded my arms across my chest. “Let me tie you up.”
He had the nerve to scoff. “Be for real, Carteay.”
“So, you’ve never let a woman tie you up?” I quizzed.
He raised his shoulders and held his hands palms up. “Baby, I was a virgin until I met you.”
I waved him off. “That’s why I can’t take your ass serious.”
“OK, OK, I’m being serious. Tell me what to do.”
“Let me tie you up.”
