Felix smiled and started toward the stairs.“I appreciate that.”He looked at Nate over his shoulder.“Are you coming to trivia tonight?Aiden and Nicole will be at the restaurant, but Mom’s babysitting Kit, so Travis and Parker will be there.”
Nate looked down at Lottie and raised his brow in question.The fact that he was checking in with her before he made plans was nice and helped solidify their relationship in her mind.When she nodded, Nate turned back to his brother.“We’ll be there.”
“Great,” Felix said, ascending the stairs.“But if I see you two sneak back down here, I’m telling Mom and Dad.”
Lottie chuckled at the look of actual horror on Nate’s face as he gaped at the threat his brother had made.“You wouldn’t.”
Felix shrugged with a mischievous expression.“Wouldn’t I?”From what Lottie knew of the brothers, none of them were above throwing each other under the bus if it could provide them with some momentary entertainment.
Nate lunged at his brother who was too fast and already at the top of the stairs.Turning to her, he smiled indulgently.“Sorry about that,” he professed, rubbing the back of his neck nervously.
Lottie smiled shyly as she looked at him.“Would it really be that bad, your mom and dad knowing about us?”She was ready for the world to know, but like so many times before, maybe they weren’t on the same page.
Nate cupped her cheek, his expression serious.“No, it wouldn’t be bad at all.In fact, I’m sure they already know.”He smiled and grabbed her hand, leading her back up the stairs.“If they don’t, you can always put it in your newsletter.”
Lottie beamed at him and his suggestion.Her newsletter had always seemed to be a thorn in his side, but it seemed as though he was finally coming around.“Would that be our equivalent to going Internet official?”
Nate chuckled as they walked down the hallway and outside into the cold.“I suppose it would.What headline should we go with?Town Reporter Snags Applewood’s Most Eligible Bachelor?”
