Page 83 of Knot So Damaged

Stepping around me, Conall comes to stand right in front of his twin. It seems to anger Victor more as he faces off with him.

“That’s fucking enough! Tell me brother, when the fuck did Valley ever lie directly to your face about not being a Beta? Huh? Fucking never. Why do you think she has tried to deny all three of our advances no matter how fucking insistant we have been?”

Conall shakes his head in disappointment before continuing, “It’s for this exact fucking reason. Your reaction to her letting you both in on her secrets is why she has had to hide herself from our designation!”

Vic takes a step back from his brother, processing the weight of his words. It doesn’t seem to process in his brain in the way that Conall had planned.

Victor is beyond angry. In fact, I think it would be fair to say he is almost feral. His eyes are almost completely black. His hands keepclenching and unclenching like he is trying his best to hold back the beast. A vein in his neck throbs as he glares at me. If we were still wolf shifters, like we had been hundreds of years ago, he would have shifted and torn me apart by now. A fact I have know isn’t an over statement.

Never in all my years facing off with angry Alphas have I ever seen one in this state. Not even when the Andrew’s pack killed my parents.

“Because what happens when an Alpha thinks he is slighted in some way? They turn into fucking monsters. Which is exactly what you are proving to be right now.”

I bring up a hand to my mouth as Conall’s words wash over me too.

He is right. Damn him.

Vic takes another step back, looking between both Conall and me. His expression is a mixture of emotions; each fighting the other to win.

He shakes his head before retreating completely, his hand coming to land on the door. Fear fills me as I watch the knob twist, knowing that whatever happens now is it.

That whatever he does now will change whatever we were building between us.

“Fuck this and fuck you. I can’t fucking do this right now,” he says through gritted teeth before turning his back on us. Turning his back on me.

The moment he is out of sight, I collapse into myself. The tears that I had been fighting flow down my face in streams. My sobs turn guttural.

I knew that this was all too good to be true. That once I had found an inch of happiness, it would just all blow up in my face.

Maybe I was never meant to be happy. That being damaged beyond repair doesn’t mean that you are somehow entitled to find your happily ever after.

Hiding my face in my hands, I allow myself to break. To grieve what could have been. Because once I leave this room, I am on my own again.

Maybe Conall will decide to stick around. Not that I expect him too. I’m not in the business of breaking up a pack.

A hand touching my shoulder has me jerking up right allowing me to come face to face with Olis. His face is blank—void of all emotion—and I prepare myself for a dressing down. Again.

“Did you mean to hurt us by hiding your true designation?”

I rear back at his words, a mixture of hurt and disbelief at the accusation.

“Never. I would never hurt any of you,” I reply, shaking my head.

Olis nods, remaining silent as he moves his hand from my shoulder. I wait for him to back away from me completely, but he doesn't. Instead, he wraps his hands around my calves. The hard expression slips from his face. A bright smile, one I didn’t know he was capable of sliding into place instead.

“I knew from the moment I saw you in the park that you were ours. Whether you are a Beta or an Omega doesn’t change anything for me. It just reaffirms to me what you truly are.”

I tilt my head, giving him a questioning look. “And what is that?”

His smile brightens impossibly so as he leans in closer.

“Mine. It means that you are mine.”

I never gave much thought about what it would be like to be with a man like Olis. That is until he carries me the entire way to his bedroom in the main house. He doesn’t hesitate for a second as we pass by soldiers whose mouths drop as we pass by them.

He doesn’t even stop to say anything to Kennedy and Ledger who are looking after Amity in the living area. He only stops when we finally make it to the bedroom. Placing me down in front of him, he immediately shrugs off his shirt, gracing me with the hard lines of his chest I have become obsessed with.

Deciding to take matters into my own hands, I push Olis’ chest hard enough to get him to sit on the edge of the bed. His eyes widen with surprise and lust as he looks up at me.
