Me-

He said there’s 6 down here plus there’s an alarm. So just keep watch. I’m going to try and get them free and meet you back at the stairs.

Chad-

10-4 me or Raiden can come help if you need it.

Me-

I’m good. Just hurry.

I slide my phone back into my pants pocket and walk through the metal gate. Moving to the next one, each of the girls cautiously lets me unchain them and walks out to the huddle of teenage girls with sad eyes, waiting for their ticket out of here. As I make my way down to the last cage, I hear footsteps approaching.

“Shhh, everyone get in here with her. Here are the keys to get her cuffs unlocked. I’ll go take care of him,” I whisper, ushering the girls in and pulling the door slightly, but not closing it all the way. Each of them gives me a small head nod, and I walk toward the noise of the man talking over the radio.

“So far, all is good tonight, boss. I’ll check back in a few hours,” I hear and a sly grin spreads across my face.Sorry man, you won’t be here in a few hours,I think to myself. This place will be cleaned out.

Standing behind a concrete pillar, I wait for him to get closer. I reach down for both of my daggers this time. His footsteps are heavy, so it’s easy for me to judge where he’s at. The sound echoes off the walls. I grip my daggers tighter the closer the steps get, ready to jump in for a quick kill. As soon as he steps intoview, I swing my hands out, aiming my daggers at his throat, but he’s quick and slaps my hands, making one of my daggers clatter across the floor.

“You dumb bitch. What are you even doing down here?” he says, grabbing me by the throat and slamming me against the wall. I laugh as a wicked grin spreads across my face. They always underestimate me because I’m a girl.He looks me in my eyes and cocks his head to the side. I kick my feet out to try and kick him in the dick, but he jumps himself back.

“You’re one of those crazy bitches, huh?” he taunts, and I immediately stop laughing.Who the fuck is he calling crazy?

“Me? Crazy? No, I’m perfectly fine.” I smile sinisterly as I wait for an opening to shove my dagger into his throat. “I think it’s you that’s crazy, sir. You have all these people locked up,” I finish, and his eyes widen. He releases my throat and reaches for his radio, but this time I’m quicker. I uppercut him with the dagger in my hand, sending the blade right into the bottom of his jaw. I pull it out and jam the knife into the side of his neck. Again and again, never letting up until his body falls back on the floor, blood spilling from his lips. I walk over and pick up my other dagger from the ground, and wipe both blades on my pants and put them back in their sheaths. Turning, I walk back to where I left the girls. Hopefully, the last one is uncuffed and we’re ready to blow this joint.

As I approach, one of the smallest girls walks up to me and grabs my hand. I look down, and it’s moments like this that make my job worth it. No matter how many people I kill, how many times I get my ass kicked. It’s saving them. All of them. Boys, girls, women, it doesn’t matter. No one deserves this, and one day, all this shit will be shut down. I gently squeeze her hand and smile down at her, look over my shoulder at the rest, and start walking to where I came in at. As we all walk in silence back towards the stairs, I really take in the scene down here. Outsideof what I have already seen, it makes me wonder when the last time they had a decent shower. Maybe even a proper meal. Every one of them looks underweight, and they don’t look to be over the age of sixteen. Minus the one holding my hand, I look down at her as we walk. She’s got to be fourteen, maybe. I know their parents are probably worried sick. One thing I’ve learned in this shit life I live, if I ever have kids, I’m training them to be killers. End of story. At least try to give them better than what I was given. Honestly though, I stay too busy to want to have kids right now.

The little girl holding my hand tightens her grip, pulling me out of my head, and I look up and see Raiden and Chad waiting at the bottom of the stairs with another handful of kids.Jesus Christ, how many kids are in each one of these damn rings? It makes me want to set fire to them all, tonight.

“It’s okay, they are with me. Here to help get you guys out,” I whisper, and she looks up at me. The scared look in her eyes tells me all I need to know, but she nods anyway. She doesn’t trust men, and that’s okay, most don’t in these situations.

“We had three guards walk up on us, so we better hurry before the last one finds us,” Chad says and starts up the stairs. I let all the kids follow behind him so that I’m the last one up. I look around as I start to wonder if what I’m thinking about doing will actually work or if I’ll just fuck myself in the end.

“What’s that look for? What are you plotting?” Raiden asks, and I turn my head slowly, looking at him as a devilish grin spreads across my face.

“I wanna blow it up. But can I pull the pin and run quickly enough without getting caught in the fire?” I say, trying to think and plot out loud.

“Are you insane? Of course not. Let me see what all I got.”

“I didn’t think so. Maybe if I were Flash.” I chuckle ,and he pulls the pack he's been carrying off his back. He squats downand starts digging through it, and I peek over his shoulder. He’s carrying all kinds of stuff in there, I can’t see it great but I see different types of explosives and extra guns.

“I got some stuff. Here, take this,” he says, passing me something with a red button on it.

“What the fuck?” I ask shockingly. If this is what I think it is, who just carries this shit around?

“Don’t ask questions, black bird. Take that and wait for me upstairs,” Raiden replies, never looking back as he starts taking explosives and shit out of his bag.

Turning, I don’t even ask questions as I walk up the stairs to meet Chad and the kids. And he says I’m insane. That’s like the pot calling the kettle black.I shake my head and chuckle as I make it to the top and walk through the kitchen. As I’m walking out the front door, I look across the street as everyone piles into the van. He’s wasting no time, thank God. I could use a long hot shower, but we still have to get them set up at the safe houses.

Impatiently, I wait for Raiden to come out. I don’t know shit about this guy, but Chad trusts him, therefore, I will give it a shot. Besides, if he's any good at this, I might hire him for more raids in the future. Who knows. Pacing back and forth, I finally give up and walk across the street to check and see how everyone is doing.

“Everyone okay?” I ask and lean in the window.

“Yeah, all good here. Where’s Raiden?” Chad asks, and I look back at the girls and they seem to be fine, just exhausted. Not to mention whatever bullshit they’ve been put through.

“He’s helping me blow shit up.” I chuckle, and he just shakes his head in response. Fast approaching footsteps have me pulling my head out of the window to look around, Raiden comes jogging up. The biggest damn grin on his face, like a kid in a candy store.

“Push the button,” is all he says, and he doesn’t have to tell me twice. I push the button and look up as the explosion has the old house crumbling to the ground almost immediately. I swear I can feel the flames lick the side of my face from the blast, debris flying everywhere. It’s crazy, and yet, satisfying.
