They awake simultaneously, gazing into each other’s eyes with a love purer than starlight itself.“You owe me, Luke,”Nial’s voice whispers within all our minds.“I knew it.”

“Who would’ve thought you, of all angels, would be their biggest admirer?”Annalise chimes.

“I’m just quite experienced at reading people. Even the impossible Cleo Graves.”He raises his brows nonchalantly.

I sigh in contentment.

The choices these two young angels just made are far more significant than they realize. They’ve finally accepted the fates they were meant to all along.

The boy was destined to stop running away from his problems and let go of his mortal life.

The girl was meant to let another soul in to soothe her broken heart.

He’s been running so long and she’s been fighting alone for so long that they both forgot how to lean on others. Only under these precise circumstances can they each qualify to pass on to the Golden Realm in peace.

Which is what we, the Archangels, have desired for these two precious souls all along.

Delightful, isn’t it? When things work out precisely the way you want them to, but not in the way you predicted?

Delightful, indeed.

“Daydreaming again, Jessenia?”Nial interrupts my thoughts.

“I just lovelove. It’s been a while since I witnessed a love as divine as this one.”

“Oh, come on now, love. You’re less than five centuries old. It can’t have been that long.”Nial smirks.

“Can you blame me for being proud of these two? Especially the golden one. I’ve watched his entire journey from the moment he died to now.”

The golden one clears his throat boisterously. “…Are we interrupting?”

“Yes, care to unbind me, Nial?” The starlit one scowls.

“What about her wings?” Kai pins us with a dark stare. “Did she pass the test?”

Ah, the test.

For a moment there, we were unsure whether he would choose to come back to Eloras or stay on Earth with his family. But of course, her soul called him back.

As it always will.

Likewise, she would have remained trapped in her own nightmare for eternity had she not accepted the love she has always deserved.

Little did he know that by jumping into the illusion, his soul would’ve been caught, too, had she failed. Something tells me he wouldn’t have minded, though.

For as long as his soul intertwines with hers, he’s at utter, undeniable peace.

No matter the circumstances.

Nial unbinds Cleo’s wrists with a snap of his fingers, and I fight to school my expression. I can only imagine what I’d do with that kind of power. Guess it’s a good thing I wasn’t bestowed with such gifts.
