Jared rolled his eyes. “Luke was here this morning.”

Oh. So no point even trying to deny anything.“You’ve seen how hot he is. Might as well make the best of the situation.”

“Mm-hmm.”

“What the hell does that mean?”

“Well, the last time we spoke about this, you were adamant you weren’t going to get involved with a shifter, just in case. Remember?”

Did I say that?

Jared was carrying on, clearly on a roll. “And now Luke says the two of you smell like you ‘rolled around in each other’s jizz.’ His exact words,” he added when Seb wrinkled his nose.

“We didn’t roll around in it.”

They drank their coffee in silence for a few moments.

Seb contemplated letting the subject drop, but he still had questions. “Hypothetically speaking….”

Jared turned his head to face him. “Yes?”

“If Tim were to bite me now, would I turn into a wolf and would we bond, or would I have to wait until after the full moon to find out, like you did?”

“Er….” Jared stared at him open-mouthed. “Hypothetically?”

“Yes.”

“Well, I’m no expert. You’d be better off asking Nathan.” He paused. “Or, you know, Tim.”

So not happening.Seb glared at him and motioned for him to carry on.

“Well, as I understand it, if you’re already fucking and a shifter bites you, thenbam!” He slapped his hand on the worktop, startling Seb. “Instant bond. I don’t know about the wolf bit, though. I think that’s maybe still a case of wait and see.”

“But the bond would stay whatever the outcome?”

“I think so? But I’m really not the one to ask, Seb.” Jared flicked a quick glance at the clock on the wall.

Seb suddenly realised that he might be keeping him from working. “Do you need to be somewhere?”

“What? Oh, no. I left my laptop upstairs with Gareth last night. I just need to go get it before eleven, that’s all.”

“Oh.”

“Are you sure you’re not thinking about Tim biting you?”

“Not a chance. Even if it would fix my leg.”

Jared didn’t look all that convinced, so Seb busied himself with the last of his coffee. Did he want Tim to bite him? No.Well, maybe the thought had crept into his head when they were having sex, but that was different. He wasn’t thinking with his brain then. But something about what Nathan had said… “Can bonds be one-sided?”

“What?”

“Like, without the biting bit, can shifters form bonds to humans but not have it reciprocated?”

Jared studied him again and Seb fidgeted under his constant scrutiny.

Jared said, “Is that what you think’s happening with Tim?”

“I don’t know. Nathan said they get easily attached, so… maybe?”
