Seb shrugged one shoulder, then ran a finger through the cooling come and sucked it into his mouth. “Who said I was disappointed?”

He scooped up another fingerful, but Tim grabbed his hand, drew it towards him, and licked it clean.

“Fuck,” Seb whispered.

It was Seb’s expression more than anything, all hungry-eyed and vulnerable, that had Tim surging forward to pin him to the bed. Seb’s behaviour curled around his heart, tugging at the emotions already held there, and he needed to be as close to him as possible.

Sticky come clung to their stomachs and Tim growled low in his throat at the feel of it. He twined his fingers with Seb’s and kissed him, chasing the flavours on his tongue.

When they finally came up for air, Seb smiled up at him, just as his phone chimed with a reminder from the pocket of his bottoms somewhere on the floor. Seb glanced over in the direction and frowned for a second. Then, “Oh, shit.”

“What?” Tim propped himself up on his elbows.

“I need to sort out a cab from the airport for my sister tomorrow.” He slithered out from under Tim and leaned over the bed to find his phone. “Aha!” He sat back up triumphant, phone in hand.

“What time does she land? I could go and fetch her if you want?”

Seb stilled and looked up at him. “Er….”

“It’s no problem. I can get someone to cover for me at the surgery.”

“Yeah, it’s not that.” Seb scrubbed a hand over his eyes and sighed. “I’d rather keep her away from this mess if I can.”

“Ahh. That’s fine, I understand.”

And he did. It just hurt that he couldn’t do anything to help, that Seb didn’t feel he could ask him without putting his sister in some kind of danger. Tim rolled onto his back, listening as Seb called the taxi company and rattled off his sister’s name and flight details.

Seb placed a hand on Tim’s chest after he hung up. “Sorry. I’m grateful for the offer, but I’d really rather keep her away from shifters if I can help it.”

“You know they’re everywhere, right? She’s bound to run into one at some point. In fact, it wouldn’t surprise me much if that car you just ordered was driven by one. Packs are involved with all sorts of businesses these days.”

“I know, but with everything going on around here, aroundme… I just don’t want her near anyone involved with it.”

“Fair enough.”

Silence settled between them as they lay on their backs, looking up at the ceiling.

For Tim, Seb’s flat felt more like home with each day he spent there. He shouldn’t think of it that way, but his scent overlaid Seb’s everywhere, especially in the bedroom, and not one part of him wanted to ignore it.

Seb nudged him in the side. “So, do I smell enough like you again?” He ran his fingers over the traces of dried come on his belly, drawing Tim’s gaze.

Tim smirked, transfixed. “I’m not sure. Maybe?”

Catching on, Seb turned onto his side, facing him. “Well, we can’t have uncertainty, can we?” When he reached out to place his hand on Tim’s chest. Tim grabbed it and tugged him closer, and Seb laughed and let Tim arrange him how he wanted, then said, “Got any ideas how to fix it?”

If Seb wanted to forget everything going on around them, then Tim would go with it. He wanted to grab every opportunity with both hands. Who knew how much longer he’d get to have this. With a soft smile, he tilted Seb’s chin towards him and kissed him. “I’ve got one or two.”

Chapter Fifteen

Tim dropped Seb off at Jared and Nathan’s flat the next morning, insisting on walking him to the front door and waiting until Nathan came down to meet them.

“I’m fine, really.” Seb didn’t like the slight edge to his tone, but Tim was overreacting. “We’re in the building, for fuck’s sake! You can stop fussing.”

“Shit.” Tim sighed and immediately stepped back to give him some space. “Sorry. I’m just a little tense.”

Seb snorted. “You don’t say.” He heard the stairwell door creak open on the floor above them, and he gave Tim a gentle shove. “Relax. Nothing’s going to happen here.”

“I know that, I just….” He sighed again and glanced towards the door, just as Nathan wandered through. “Never mind.”
