“Really?” Seb pulled the quilt back, then pointed at the empty spot. “Don’t be ridiculous. I’m not going to make you sleep on the sofa.”
Tim shrugged but got in next to him. “I didn’t want to assume.”
That made Seb laugh and shake his head. “After all we’ve done tonight, I think it’s safe for you to assume we’d sleep in the same bed. Besides, won’t it help with all the”—he waved a hand between them—“scent stuff.”
“Yeah.” Tim smiled at him, but this time it didn’t quite reach his eyes. “Good point.”
Seb got the impression there would be no more sex on offer tonight, and he was knackered anyway, so he scooted around until he lay with his cast in the best position, and closed his eyes.
The faint sound of an alarm going off slowly worked its way into Seb’s consciousness, tugging him awake. He reached out, searching for his phone, but his hand came up empty. “Fuck’s sake.”
Soft laughter sounded beside him. “Sorry, it’s mine. I forgot to turn it off.”
Seb opened one eye to find Tim propped up on an elbow, watching him. “What time is it?”
“Seven.”
“Fuck.” Usually he was up and out of the house by then. This past week had done a number on his body clock. Thankfully, Tim had shut off his alarm but didn’t seem in any great hurry to get up. “When do you have to leave?”
“I usually have surgery at eight fifteen, but I swapped with one of the other GPs.”
“I thought you were the only pack doctor?” Seb was almost certain that was what Jared and Nathan had said.
Tim pushed a lock of hair back from Seb’s face and smiled at him. “I am, for shifters. They don’t need a doctor all that often. But there are plenty of humans, both in the pack and associated with it. We treat local residents too.”
“Oh. How many of you are there, then?”
“Three in our practice.”
That made sense, Seb supposed. “You don’t have to stay here with me all day. You know that, right?”
Tim smiled, looking a lot more relaxed than he was last night when Seb had said almost the exact same thing. “Yes. You’ve made that quite clear. I’m actually meeting with Alec at eleven, so you can have your peace and quiet back then.”
Oh, well, that was… great.
Tim continued. “Unless you wanted me to drop you off somewhere? Jared’s maybe?”
Seb narrowed his eyes. “Were you listening to my phone call last night?”
“Unintentionally, I promise.” Tim put his hand on Seb’s cheek and drew him in for a quick kiss. Which was unexpected, but nice, and probably had the effect Tim had been aiming for. “I heard Jared mention it, that’s all.”
As tempting as that offer was, Seb had only just left Jared’s. After all the fuss he’d made about coming back to his own place, he needed to stay in it for more than one day. “No, thanks, anyway. I want to venture out a little with that thing.” Seb pointed over to where his crutch leaned against the wall. “See how easy it is to get to the shops.”
To his credit, Tim only tensed for a second or so but didn’t comment.
Seb smirked. “Nothing to say?
“I know you wouldn’t listen.”
“No warning to stay inside and not go anywhere?”
Tim shook his head, but then tensed again, as though listening for something.
“What?”
“You remember when we spoke about security cameras, yesterday?”
Seb cocked his head to the side. “Vaguely.”
