He couldn’t very well moan at Riley for going out with his younger brother. They always went out on their own for a few beers when Charlie came home. Riley said it gave them chance to reconnect, or something like that.
Finishing early, gets in tomorrow afternoon. Sorry.
Maybe Riley was telling the truth? Maybe there was nothing wrong between them and Alex was letting the shitty week at work spill over into everything else.
His mum had nagged his dad about putting up Christmas decorations in the reception area of the garage, so as the youngest there, Alex had ended up doing it. Being the boss’s son counted for fuck-all in those situations. Despite knowing it was no different to any other time of year, it always seemed worse when you were single at Christmas. He really fancied the idea of spending Christmas morning with someone other than his mum, dad, and sister—as lovely as they were.
With a sigh, he typed out one last message.
Maybe next week then. Say Hi to C for me.
TheWill dothat came back only served to irritate him more and all but wipe out his earlier good mood.
Maybe he needed to call in reinforcements.
