Penny sighed as he pulled her dress lower and kissed every inch of skin he exposed along the way. “I missed you.” She pulled out the elastic and ran her fingers through his hair.
“What time do you leave Sunday?”
“One o’clock.”
“Are you packed?” He pulled her into his mouth and felt her back arch. Penny nodded. “Good.”
Brett took his time reminding her he meant what he said in the garden. He’d had plenty of time to think on the drive, and then he’d stared at the tattoo on his arm in the hotel mirror before getting dressed and heading to the party. He hadn’t known what her response would be with him showing up like that, but it hadn’t mattered. Whether she accepted him or not, his old self had already been reduced to ashes.
Brett took a long, hard look at that cream fabric puddled on the floor as Penny worked at the buttons of his shirt. She’d transformed him into a new creature, and whether she was ready or not, he was hers.
But damn, if he wasn’t ecstatic that she was ready.
