Why had I even said that?

Partly, it was because I was so embarrassed at the sound I’d made. Partly, it was the response they’d provoked.

“Oh, those.” His eyes shifted around the room, as though he was trying to come up with some explanation, which assured me that he had worn them on purpose.

Of course he had. How stupid could I be?

“Keegan, I’m—”

Before I could finish my sentence, a bright blue light flashed, and we both turned at the same time to see a guy beside us with his phone held up. He lowered it immediately and said, “You’re Hottie Firefighter’s brother, right? And you’re the prince from that country nobody’s ever heard of?”

“Uh, yes, that’s us,” Keegan muttered. I couldn’t tell if he was still struggling to process the comment I’d made or the surprise photo—surely a combination of both.

“I figured it was you guys, but I wasn’t totally sure.”

And yet he took a photo of us anyway?

“Hey, can I get a pic with you both?”

“Sure,” Keegan spit out, and we posed with the guy for a selfie before he headed off.

I was about to say something to Keeg when he blurted out, “I’m just going to go to the bathroom.”

He dashed off.

What a fucking ass I’d made of myself.

Ihurried into the restroom and splashed water over my face at the sink.

“Did you lose a bet?”

I wished I could disappear from the restroom because Jesus Christ, how was I going to face Owen after that? I couldn’t believe he’d caught me.

I had been so good about hiding my dirty little secret from everyone, but I just sort of got lost in enjoying dancing with him…and feeling how hard he was with my ass against his pelvis like that, I’d totally forgotten about the panties I’d been wearing.

I looked at myself in the mirror. How was I going to go back out there when Owen had to have known by my reaction to his comment that I wasn’t wearing them because of a bet?

A guy stepped out of a nearby stall and headed to the sink beside the one I was at. He must’ve been curious about why I was just standing there, staring at myself, but considering he had hardly noticed me, even as he finished up and headed out of the restroom, I was likely projecting based on how I imagined Owen had felt about catching me in those panties. In fact, I even felt like this guy could somehow see my secret. That he knew what I was wearing under my jeans and was judging me for it, like Owen did.

Would Owen tell Steve and Casey?

Of course not. He wasn’t an asshole.

I thought about the pic that guy had taken of us. I must’ve looked like a deer in headlights.

“Get it together, Keegan,” I muttered.

I had to go out there and face him again at some point, whether I liked it or not.

I turned to march back and confront my fear, when the door flew open, and Owen stepped in, halting just before me.

The door swung back toward him, and he appeared surprised by it, stepping aside as it shut behind him. He looked so intense about something, this disarming expression of determination on his face.

“Seems we have a thing for restrooms,” I joked, trying to make light of the situation.
