“Jace, I’m sure you don’t mean it in a bad way, but when I tell you that I think your mom’s car has an internal oil leak, and that’s your response, it sounds a littleweird.”

Fuck. I was so distracted by my thoughts about Dax, I hadn’t even heard him say anything about theengine.

“Also, just a heads-up,” he continued, “if you asked the wrong person that question, it could be perceived as offensive, and maybe even like you were making fun ofthem.”

“Oh, I didn’t mean it in a bad way. I was being serious. I’m just curious, and I figured…considering you wouldknow.”

He looked at me for a moment before laughing his ass off. “Oh God, Jace.” He grabbed a cloth from the side of the car and wiped his oily hands, as though he felt this conversation warranted a moment of his time. “I think it’s only fair to ask what brought about yourquestion.”

“Something I’m curious aboutlately.”

Since I’d kissed Dax in his hotel room, I’d thought about it a lot, actually. It played on my mind the way those pretty pink lips of his had, to the point where I couldn’t resist them anymore. I remembered staring at them and just wanting to know how they tasted, and damned if that wasn’t the best taste ever. And the sensation of having them against mine… Hell, if I’d stayed much longer, I figured I would have definitely been reliving some college experiments, but I’dresisted.

I could rush into a burning building, but apparently, the thought of having to deal with a cock was too much for me. Well, at least in thatmoment.

“Would it be kind of salty?” Ipressed.

“Salty?”

“Like from sweating orsomething.”

“Could be, I guess. Wow. This conversation is officially starting to weird meout.”

“Or taste like soap after ashower?”

“I think the safest answer is it depends on whose dick you’re sucking,” Ash said. “So you want to tell me whose dick you’re interested in sucking?” As soon as he said that, he offered this friendly smile, welcoming me to share the details, as though he wanted to let me know he was there for me. “This is all a big surprise to me, but it’s a little funny that you’re telling me this. When I came back to Fever Falls, I asked Beau if you were gay, and he was sure you were straight. I’m glad I didn’t know you swung that way because I think I would have been a littlejealous.”

“Not my fault that there’s a lot to be jealousof.”

He grinned ear to ear. “Ooh, we’re a whole lot of ego for one town, aren’t we,Kruse?”

“Yes, we are. But I can’t confirm or deny anything about which way I’m swinging. I haven’t tasted a dick yet, so I can still change my mind,” I joked, and Ashsnickered.

“Well, as far as I know, you have a reputation in this town for being a hot straightguy.”

“Interesting that you say that. For the past week, I’ve been thinking about it. I’ve always been attracted to guys. I’m not afraid to tell a guy if I think he’s hot orsomething.”

“I think most people have assumed it’s because you’re reallyconfident.”

“I mean, that’s true, but I’ve never shied away from anything. If I’ve felt attracted to someone, I’ve done what I wanted or flirted with who I wanted. Guys have even offered to do things with me, but no one’s just flat-out asked me if I was gay or bi or straight ever. I think everyone assumed because I had girlfriends, but I’ve messed around with a guybefore.”

“That doesn’t necessarily mean anything,” Ash said. “Nothing wrong withexperimenting.”

“But I had fun. I wasn’t bothered byit.”

“So you’re bi? That’s totallycool.”

“Well, you know, it’s like if there’s a spectrum and girls are on one side and guys are on the other, then I’d say that ninety percent of the time, I’m way over here with girls, but every once in a while, there’s a guy I’m like nudged over by. But then there’s this one guy, who…ooh…” I sighed, heat rushing to my face and the pressure building in my dick as I thought about what it felt like to have my lips againstDax’s.

“Interesting,” Ash said. “I never would have thought to ask. Like you said, you were always running around with one girl or another, so I wouldn’t have thought much about it, but who’s the lucky guy? Would this be Dax, the guy who works with Elliott at my PRfirm?”

“Yeah, it’s totally him! Dax Munro. He came here to talk me into the endorsement deal withHacksmore.”

“Did he talk you into some other things?” Ash asked with awink.

“I mean, we kissed, and it was like…wow, but that was it. I didn’t really know what to do afterthat.”

“I think you could have figured itout.”
