“Here we go,” he says. “I was worried we might be too late, but it’smagnificent.”
“Stop teasing and get toit.”
“The teasing’s the best part.” His breath hits the back of my neck as hisspeaks.
“Ooh, we might just have to play around with this blindfoldlater.”
The rustle of him shifting about behind me precedes the sensation of him untying the back of theblindfold.
He stops. “Okay, walk forward alittle.”
I obey, and he follows intow.
“Stop…now.”
“I’m so fuckingcurious.”
He removes the blindfold, and I take in the scenery from thebalcony.
Orange light spills across white buildings with blue rooftops, which cover the steep hill our hotel is on, overlooking the ocean view as the sun sets in the distance, far off on the horizon. It reminds me of photos and movies I’ve seen set inSantorini.
“Holy fuck,” Imutter.
Eric moves nearer behind me, his arms sliding under mine as he urges me close. “This is our first stop, for the official debut night of our honeymoon. Isn’t itbeautiful?”
“It’s…amazing,Eric.”
He kisses behind my ear, and I have to work to keep my eyes open, to not close them to savor the experience, since I want to take all this beauty in. He licks and nips down my neck, and it’s too much for me. I close my eyes and reach back, running my fingers through hishair.
“I was so worried we wouldn’t make it in time for the sunset,” he says. “But look how spectacular itis.”
“It’d be easier to appreciate if you weren’t sodistracting.”
His hand slips beneath my polo, his fingertips making their way across my torso, taking a familiar path, his thumb sliding down my happytrail.
He moans, pullingback.
“I didn’t saystop.”
“Watch the sunset with me. You don’t want to missthis.”
Though I’m frustrated to not have him all over me right now, the gorgeous golden horizon is spellbinding, one he picked out especially for me, for this day, for our first night as a marriedcouple.
He keeps his arms around me, his head tucked close to mine, and offers another kiss as the sun descends in the distance until soon the houses surrounding us are cast in a bluelight.
Eric steps back, and as I start to turn toward him, he says, “No, no. Keep looking at thescene.”
I sneak a peek over my shoulder, though, as he gets out his phone. He glares at me. “Jesse, what did I tell you?” But he’s all smiles as he chastises me for beingdisobedient.
I reluctantly turn back, knowing he’s right. I can’t miss out onthis.
My first trip toGreece.
A pleasant melody fills the air, familiar, and it takes a moment before Kate Bush’s voice scratches at myears.
I laugh. “Which song isthis?”
“The SensualWorld.”
