“Bingo? Oh God. I always tell Justin I’m not going to become one of those old guys who sits around playing bingo allnight.”

“Eh, I figured the same thing, but it’s a lot of fun, and pretty much everyone shows up, so it’s where you go to get in on the goodgossip.”

Wes smirked, his dimple playing against his cheek, those dark-brown eyes just as beautiful as ever when they beheld him. “CleverArt.”

“Trust me on this. You don’t want to miss out on all the crazy that shows up.” Art checked his phone again. “But speaking of signing up for things, if I don’t head on, I’ll be late for my yoga session for theday.”

“And you do yoga?” Wes asked, and judging by his expression, he was impressed at how active Artwas.

“I wish I could take credit for that, but really, when you see the yoga instructor we’ve got, you’ll know why I—and pretty much most of the other residents who’ll be there—signed up forit.”

Wes laughed, and Art was pleased with how much laughter they shared in their brief exchangestogether.

“Yes, you’ll have a great time here, I think, Mr. Brenner. Well, I’m sure we’ll see each other soonenough.”

“Of course. Thank you for giving me a bit of a heads-up onthings.”

“Not an issue,” Art said. “It’s nice seeing a friendly face again after so manyyears.”

“Samehere.”

As they gazed at one another, Art thought about that day when they’d sat on the bench, gazing into one another’s eyes, not really sure exactly what they were looking for. Stuck there in that moment as though simply appreciating it for what itwas.

Art reached his hand out for a shake, and Wes pulled him in for a friendly pat on theback.

There was something nice about having Wes there, another link to his past, so far back to a time he could hardly remember. It was nice knowing they shared a connection that so few from their childhood and even at Heathrow Estates couldunderstand.

And Art hoped that Wes remained as sincere and kind as he had been so far because he always appreciated having a new friend, especially since he knew how hard those were to comeby.
