“No, this is fine, I’d like that. Shall we?”

He smiles, nodding and offers me his arm. I take it as we both make our way out of the bedroom and down the hall. We make our way down the steps, and I can hear the music; the lights are lit vibrantly, and there are plenty of people. Guards line the stairs as I’m led away, and we pause at the door, waiting for us to be announced.

This is it, to finally be married and to swear our oaths as King and Queen.

The door opens, the dazzling lights blinding me for a moment.

“Her Royal Highness, Princess Siralaine Stormborn! Accompanied by Lord Gideon Tidalwave!”

Taking a deep breath, we step forward, my eyes instantly spotting my handsome man, who is all in black, his pants shaping his muscular thighs perfectly, his shirt tucked in with a black belt that has a gold buckle shaped like wings. Several buttons on his shirt are open, revealing his golden necklace, which he always wears, and his toned chest. His hair is styled back, a few strands falling across his forehead, his ear glinting with his earrings.

Oh my… he looks sexy all the time, but something about him in those black pants and shirt makes my core clench with heat.

He smirks, his eyes meeting mine as if he knows exactly what I’m thinking. His eyes trail over me, a look of possessive approval in them, and I smile softly.

Fuck, darling, I am going to ravish you thoroughlytonight. You won’t be leaving that bed for days,he growls through the mind-link.

It seems I’m not the only one whose breath is taken. I smile at him, my cheeks burning.

I can’t wait.

A murmur of compliments follows me as I slowly make my way down the steps, ready to begin a new chapter of my life.

One that starts with a woman who never thought she’d find happiness, marrying her beloved king.

Epilogue

Siralaine

Do you think they’ll be surprised to see us?” I whisper, clinging to Kai’s shoulders as he flies us to the small village of Ridvern. We have finally got the chance to visit Dorene and Alfren.

It has been five months since our coronation, since we both swore to govern Varindor and its people. Five months of gruelling effort to have food sent to every area of the kingdom. For watch towers to be built and security to be stationed throughout all areas. Many bandits were caught, with many being offered a chance to start anew and work honest jobs. Those who agreed were better off. Those who didn’t were thrown into the sea. Three thousand and seventy of Kai’s trusted men came from Alvazakh as well. Some with family, some alone, all pledging their allegiance to Kai and me.

“They will be, I never ended up sending a letter to them, so it should definitely be a surprise,” he answers.

I nod. I’ve been busy, too, making sure the rivers were not bled dry and making sure water flowed freely, allowing all areas of the land to receive water fairly. Things were already lookingbetter with crops improving and a promise of a better harvest this year.

Kai barely sleeps, although he makes the time to make love to me every single day, if not twice. We are addicted to one another, and every single day, I fall a little harder for him.

I swallow, trying to ease my queasy stomach as he dives for the ground. We land in the front yard of Alfren’s home, and I’m happy to see there’s a large pile of straw and wheat that needs sorting. They’ve fixed the walls and created a fence around the property, using the money Kai had sent them a month after we had taken the throne.

I hear a child’s shrill scream and smile, recognising that voice.

Alfrea!

“It’s Kai and Sira! It’s the King and Queen!” she shrieks, making Kai grimace.

“She’s loud.”

“Kids can be.” I giggle, taking his hand and tugging him towards the door. It bursts open before we reach it as Sarena and Alfrea run out to us, hugging us around the waist as Alfren and Dorene appear in the doorway, eyes wide before they both bow low.

“Don’t,” Kai says firmly.

“Your Majesty. You-you-” Alfren begins, his eyes glittering with tears.

“It’s just Kai, Alfren,” Kai says as I hug and kiss the girls, and Kai pats their heads.

“Sira! Sira! Daddy said you’re the Queen now!” Sarena exclaims.
