Avery cooed in my ear, making me gasp out, “You got me hooked now. I have never felt so alive. I don’t think you’ll ever get rid of us. Just remember you only have yourself to blame.”
The girly side I consistently shoved down preened with glee. I think I would enjoy having these two by my side.
We were laughing as we came through the door. Ax and Avery were talking about how they thought I had lost my marbles when I got on the freeway. Ax even thought I would kill us all just to make a statement.
I chuckled to myself, not denying I was that crazy. “Well, that only means the lesson will be taken seriously. You might not live through the next one.”
Ax wrapped his arms around me, whispering in my ear as he gripped my hips, “My lesson was learned, but I don’t mind experiencing another one. I like this wild, unpredictable side of you. It’s like driving with a black mamba in the car, not knowing where she is going to strike next.”
I lifted my hand behind me, running it through his hair as I cooed, “Now you’re getting it.”
Avery, not wanting to be outdone, came up to my front, tilting my chin to face him as he leaned in real close. “The best part is the come down. I’m so excited, so pumped that I feel I could take you for a ride all night long.” His lips teased mine being so close, and Ax’s fingers dug into my hips, and those touches caused me to shift my ass back and push my face forward.
Kissing Avery was like drinking in air, so easy and life-giving. His soft lips moved in the right directions, taking the kiss from soft and pure to sinful and firm within seconds. Something hard pressed against my ass as I ground into Ax. His hands mimicked the night we met in the club, and my pussy clenched at the memory. I wanted to take these boys right here and now, have them pound into me like they had to have me, then Rick’s teasing voice sounded off to the right.
“I’m so glad I volunteered to watch out for you guys. Who knows what would’ve happened if Cosmo or Falcon saw this little display.”
I pulled away from Avery, who didn’t want me to leave and started to kiss my neck and shoulder as Ax bit the other side. I stuck out my tongue to Rick, but the effect was ruined as I moaned out at what they were doing to my body.
“Rrrraaayy!” Rick’s horrified voice broke my lust-clouded mind, reminding myself we agreed to meet up, see if our dads were back, and discuss what we all learned. I slid out from between Avery and Ax, who were not expecting me to leave so quickly.
“Rick’s right.” I bit my lip at the growing outlines in their pants and wishing we could finish this now, but the others were waiting. “We need to go now, but maybe we can finish this later.” I winked, and they groaned out in frustration.
Rick walked up and put out his arm for me to take. “I think it would be best if I brought you in myself. Maybe keep those hormones from bursting out in front of people.” I patted his arm, giggling as he led me to the downstairs living room where Cosmo and Falcon were waiting on opposite sides of the room.
I faced Cosmo first. “Are they back?” He put the book he had in his hands away, then turned to me as he put his hands behind him, being the good soldier.
“No. I checked with the staff, and they have not returned yet. If they don’t show up within the next hour, Rick and I will go down and talk to the captains, see if they can tell us who went with the bosses and how we can get in contact with them, just in case.”
I nodded, trusting Cosmo to do what was needed like he always had. Rick steered me over to a single chair as he sat on one of the sofas. Cosmo, Falcon, Ax, and Avery followed, finding acceptable spots on the couches at either side of me.
“So, let’s start with what the fuck did that mage boy do?” I was so curious about what that spell was all about. Falcon nodded, scratching at that spot on his glove-covered thumb again, but I chose not to ask about that now. Maybe it was a weird tic?
“When he said the Latin incantation words for ignite, I knew that he was going to blow himself up. There are only two different kinds of spells that are powerful like that, and both require you to give up blood as a sacrifice. In the pre-Awakening days, it was the mages’ way to keep a leash on their human slaves, making a mark on their body that indicated if they left a certain perimeter, they would go up in flames.” There were plenty of reasons humans needed to fear supes, but being a slave would be on the top of their list and a big no-no now.
“Nowadays, people use this as a way to control information. If the person they have employed is caught, they are to use this in order to not be tortured for information. This is usually controlled by a mark on the skin which burns when they are called to use it. Most of the time, people used outside forces to influence them into this kind of agreement, like killing their family or loved ones.”
“Partner that with the information from Tre, and I am guessing that smoky tattoo is the mark on the skin they have to listen to.” They all nodded, thinking it through.
I felt guilty about not telling them about Lex’s tattoo, about him and his uncle’s plans. The more I learned, the more I thought they were tied to this, but I was still having a hard time not trusting Lex. I didn’t know why. Less evidence than this has had me skinning people alive, but it was something in my soul that said I had to talk to Lex. I had to hear what he had to say before I made drastic moves. Moves I might regret later. I sagged against the chair, not knowing what I should do, what the right move to make was.
Cosmo stood up. “It’s getting late, and I think this conversation needs to be had with the bosses, too.” We looked around at each other, agreeing that we wanted their input. “If that’s acceptable with you all, Rick and I will talk to the captains and try to contact the bosses, see if we can get an ETA on their return.”
I nodded, and Rick stood up, giving my shoulder a squeeze as Cosmo bent down and surprised everyone by giving me a kiss on the cheek before they walked off. My cheeks heated, so I got up, too, stretching out as I said, “I’m a little too wired to go to sleep just yet so... maybe a movie in my room? You guys can unwind there if you want.”
“Sure.”
“Okay.”
Avery and Ax said as they got up from the couch. Falcon replied, “I need to go to my room, settle my mind on something I saw, and then I will head to your room.”
I smiled and nodded as he went in the opposite direction we were going. Since it was going to be Ax and Avery... I wondered if I could convince them to finish what they started in the foyer? With those dirty thoughts circling my mind, I led them up to my room.

Chapter 20
Thisgirlwassomethingelse. She was nothing like I pictured her but, at the same time, small memories of the past kept flashing in my mind, and I realized this was exactly who I should’ve expected her to be. She never once hid her true intentions from us, and she hasn’t now. Rayla Desmond was a straight shooter and had no problem smacking you down if you crossed her, and it was so refreshing and addicting.
