As we got closer to the bottom, you could feel the vibrations against the metal walls from the pounding of the music. This would be loud, but that always worked out better for me. It was harder to hear people scream when it was so loud.
1The metal doors flew open as music and strobe lights crashed into us. We walked out of the elevator like a pack, a single unit as we stood at the edge of a terrace entryway and peered down at the thrashing bodies below. Dancing to the hard beats of the song with their arms and hips, it was like a mosh pit of limbs. To the left and right, you could see the clusters of half-moon booths, half-naked girls—human and supes—serving up bottles of booze as men in suits and expensive threads were throwing money around like it was water.
I glared out at the sea of people. Even with the loud music, I knew the men behind me would hear me as I said, “Spread out. Let’s find the fuck face.” Like that, we all split up, going down the stairs at different times to find Tre or anything that could connect with the missing supes.
I went to talk to the bartender first, asking them questions about the missing fae they reported. It was a lot like the other one—they met with some hooded figure for a second and then started to act weird, more aggressive. She apparently smashed a bottle over one of their regular’s heads when he grabbed her ass under her skirt. While I wanted to champion her, her work noted that this was unusual for her since she was so popular among the bottle service girls. She usually made the most money for the night with her bubbly, smiley attitude and her ability to let stuff like that slide.
I felt a breeze along my arm as someone moved up beside me. I thought it was one of my men and turned toward them with a sultry smile, until I saw some stranger with dimples and almost too white of teeth getting in my bubble. “Hey, beautiful. I saw you across the room and had to come over and talk to you. You captivated me. Are you going to capitalize on that?” He looked down at his half-hard dick and laughed at his own joke. I raised an eyebrow at the idiot. Is this the game human men are going with now? How pathetic.
Before I could reject him, fingers ran up my thigh, traveling right for my ass when I grabbed his arm and twisted it around before smashing his face into the bar. Pain marred his face, and he breathed out roughly, “Oh, so you like the rough stuff. I can get into that, Vamp Girl.”
I was going to roll my eyes when I noticed a very angry set of violet eyes as Cosmo made his way over here. I didn’t know why. He knew I could take care of myself. I twisted his arm farther, extending it until he was crying out, not able to say anymore of his ridiculous lines. I bent forward and whispered darkly in his ear, “Get. The. Fuck. Out. Of. Here.”
I let his arm go, and he collapsed onto the floor, scrambling up as Cosmo got to my side, and he peered up at death himself before running off quickly. “You know that I don’t need you to fight my battles, right?” I looked up at him in emphasis. “I’m a big girl, Cosy.”
His eyes traveled across my face, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. “I know. I just... I just...”
I tilted my head, letting him know I was listening. “You just, what?”
He crowded me, forcing me to take a few steps backward. I didn’t notice anything but those captivating, violet soul catchers until my back hit the bar, and his palms slammed down on either side as he got right into my face. “I didn’t like him being around you, touching you, talking to you. I had already envisioned how I was going to murder this one.”
The heat level between us rose like the burn of whiskey in my veins, and my center ached for something as my breath came out unsteady. He was so sexy when he got all jealous. Sparks were flying left and right, but one piece of his sentence struck me. “You said, murder this one...?”
His eyes closed as he leaned in and took a long deep sniff at my neck before he whispered, “I have killed almost all of your ex’s.” I knew in that moment I was truly insane because all that did was melt my heart into a puddle. I leaned back a smidge, eyebrows raised.
He chuckled, setting his forehead against the nape of my neck. “Yes, Ray. Why do you think so many of them moved out of state or you never heard from them again? Sometimes, I make them write their own leaving notes before I tear them apart.”
Well, fuck.I gulped in response, my body leaned into him to feel more of his body. I didn’t know what to say, everything else seemed either too formal or not good enough to describe our relationship, all except one phrase as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders. “Good boy.”
He shuddered against me and removed his hands from the bar to travel up my back and into my hair. “Fuck, I’ve always—”
“We found him.”
My mind was in a complete fog for a minute, trying to get my bearings as I could hear the words being said but couldn’t get my body to move. Cosmo let go of me and blew out a frustrated breath as he shoved his hands into his pockets and backed up two steps, giving me just enough room to breathe.
I looked over to see Falcon standing there, his expression the same as it has always been, but his eyes burned with a cool desire. Like he wanted to slowly unwrap me until I begged him for more.
It finally clicked in my mind what he said. “Where?”
He motioned to the dance floor, and I saw his dirty-blond hair and chiseled cheekbones from here as he was grinding against some chick. I motioned to Cosmo. “Take them to one of the rooms in the back, wait for me there. I’ll bring him.” I kept my eyes on the target as I made my way through the crowd. I was like a lioness in the tall grass, moving in slowly, focused on my prey as I inched closer and closer, not wanting to spook it.
I stepped up behind him and slid my hands over his chest as he jumped at my touch. I fingered the buttons of his shirt, scraping my nail along the skin on his chest as I nibbled on his ear. “I missed you, pet.” That’s what I always called him. He thought it was a cute nickname, something I only said for him. Little did he know that all the boys I fucked were called pet. It made it simpler to not memorize their names with the potential to get them wrong. It was also not a common nickname and made me recognizable on the spot.
He let go of the girl he was dancing on and swirled around so fast I put my hands up, smiling down at his open mouth and wide eyes and the immediate desire that filled his whole body as his eyes roamed over my entire body. He breathed out a sigh of relief as he grabbed my arms and pulled me in for a hug.
“I knew you would come back to me, baby. I knew you needed time to cool down, to not be so mad at me.” I had a hard time with all that. My smile must’ve wavered because he grabbed my neck and pulled me close so our foreheads touched, swaying with the beat of the music. “I know I fucked up. I know that. But it will never happen again. You are my one and only.” Yeah, I would not be able to put up with this for much longer. Now that I had been with men that were so above him, all I could see in front of me was a bumbling fool. I was filled with disgust that I even let this weakling touch me.
I bucked up and put on my best seductive smile as I leaned into his ear. “I think I know a way for you to make it up to me.” I licked the shell of his ear, and his whole body shivered as his length grew. “I have a room in the back ready for us.”
He licked his lips, eating me up with his gaze as he nodded. I laughed as I led him off the dance floor, swaying my hips a little extra to make sure his eyes were glued to my ass as we made our way to the back VIP area.
“Ray, I’m going to lick you up so good, baby. I have missed your pussy so much. The taste, the way you clench around me, it drives me fucking wild. No one can compare.” I wanted to turn around and punch him, scream my head off at him that he was a liar. If all those words were true, then he would’ve never done what he did. I wanted to strangle him, but I wouldn’t. Just needed to get him in that room, and then it would be all worth it.
I turned around, running my hand down his face as I cooed, “I know pet, I know. You’re very sorry, and so you’re going to make it up to me in that room, right? Make sure you scream out nice and loud for me, right?”
He nodded vigorously before I went to the room that was cracked open but pitch dark. Opening the door wider as I called out to him, “Come, pet. Let’s start the night off right.”
He followed, and I couldn’t believe how easy it was. This kid had no survival instincts as he practically ran into a pitch-black room.Fucking idiot.
