He put his thumb and finger on my chin, moving my head toward his face. “Look at me, Rayla. Look at what you do to me when you make me cum.”

I watched with rapt attention as he gripped my hips before he pounded into me like a starved man. I couldn’t take my eyes off this gorgeous dark figure that reveled in my darkness, matching it with his own as he came apart before my eyes.

His body trembled, and his horns grew to full form again as his shadows leaked and swirled around us, encasing us in a bubble of dark corruption and ultimate satisfaction. His fingers dug harder into me as he roared his release to the rooftops, pounding away as he filled me with so much cum it leaked out of me as he was still inside of me.

He crashed onto the bed next to me with his arm draped over me, exhausted. “I’m never leaving this spot again.”

I laughed, unable to keep the joy I was feeling from bubbling out of me. “You know I will need to go to the bathroom soon, right?”

With his eyes still shut, he lifted a finger to my lips. “Shhhhh, don’t ruin this for me.”

I bit the inside of my lip to keep from laughing again as I nodded and snuggled up to him and whispered, “You get five minutes.”

With his eyes still closed, he sighed with a smile. “That’s all I need.” Then he dove his face into my hair, taking in a long whiff before settling in next to me.

With my brain coming back online, I knew this would be a mess to deal with later. I still needed to get back to the Syndicate, back to my dad, back to the guys. The guys.

They were not going to like this new development, but that didn’t matter because Lex was Syndicate whether they liked it or not. He was one of us, and we took care of our own, but all of that was tomorrow’s problem. We were going to spend the rest of the night being the Devil and his rose.

Chapter 11

Itookasipof the tea that Miss Lisa made for me, hoping it would calm the pounding in my chest, but I was already on my second cup with no relief from my ailment.

My hand clenched the thin, delicate, porcelain cup with too much force, and the handle cracked. I glared down at that crack like it was the source of all my unease, but it wasn’t. The five of us had been searching all night for Rayla with nothing to show for it. Not even a damn lead.

We all went out to her area, met with some communities she talked to. They were of little help, only pointing us in the direction of where we guessed she went. Cosmo assured us if they all told her not to go somewhere, that she would, in fact, go right to that spot. While his jerky movements and rough barking commands were getting on my nerves, I knew he was right. That sounded just like Rayla.

Before heading out, all our phones dinged at the same time. I pulled mine out right away and opened the text from my father. It was short and sweet.

Father:Something came up with the drug issue. Going to investigate.

All of them were looking at their phones, probably getting the same text, so I knew he was taking the other bosses with him.

“Looks like they’re going on a little field trip. Good for them. They have been sitting there drinking in that office for far too long.” Ax puffed out a laugh at Avery’s words as he typed on his screen.

Cosmo glared at all of us, mumbling too low for me to hear as he turned and used his speed to get to his car. Rick sighed before calling out for him to stop.

Rick zoomed over to Cosmo and closed the door before he could open it fully. They seemed like they were in a heated debate, so the three of us looked around at each other, nodded, and worked our way over to them slowly.

“...down. You know acting like this will not find Rayla any faster. They are here to help.” Rick was trying to plead with him, but Cosmo wasn’t listening.

“They don’t know her! They don’t know that this is not how she operates. That there is no way in hell she wouldn’t have at least contacted you or me.” His voice went from accusatory to panicked. “I have a feeling, Rick, she’s in trouble, and I was too late.”

Rick put his hand on his slumped shoulder. “You will find her. There is only a few things that I would bet my life on, and you finding Rayla, in any circumstances, is one of them.” Rick’s eyes flicked to the three of us. “But they are Syndicate, and they want to help. Do you really want Ray to rip you a new one for offending the other heirs while she was gone?”

That seemed to knock some sense into Cosmo as he took a breath and straightened up. Rick whispered something else as he turned Cosmo, and they took a few steps to face us.

Cosmo got straight to business. “I want to examine the spot where I think she went. If we don’t find anything, then I think we should start knocking skulls on the strip.” His fists tightened at his sides. “Someone has to have seen her.” The other heirs and I nodded, knowing this wasn’t our territory, and we should follow his lead.

We turned down a dirt road that the locals told us would lead us to the basin. Cosmo’s car swerved to the left, and he slammed on his brakes. He tore out of his car and ran. My eyes caught on a few cars off to the side, but he was already searching the area with a familiar matte-black motorcycle on its kickstand.

I would not admit this out loud, but the longer Cosmo acted out of character, the more I got worried about Rayla. A spot below my thumb started to itch underneath my glove I put on this morning, reminding me why it was more important than ever to find her. We still needed to discuss our future.

Ax came up to my side as I was searching the cars Rayla’s men left. “Do you feel that?”

I straightened up before turning toward him. “Are you talking about the obvious spell that was placed around this basin that compels people to leave the area?”
