By the time we stop to catch our breaths, I let chuckle, “Don’t tell Yuki. She’ll kick both our assess.”

“My lips are sealed.” Ryo lies down on the ground, gasping for air. “Good fight.”

I glance at the bamboo forest behind the monastery, letting the calming atmosphere wash over me.

“Why didn’t you try to contact Yuki sooner?” I ask the million-dollar question.

Ryo climbs to his feet. “I didn’t know where they kept her. I knew the sooner I got done with training so I could join my father, the sooner I’d be able to get information on her.”

Nodding, I let out a sigh. “What that bastard did to you and Yuki is fucked up.”

“That’s why he’s going to die today.”

My eyes lock with Ryo’s. “Are you sure you have it in you to kill your father?”

He doesn’t hesitate to nod. “I’ve been dreaming about this day for over a decade. I’ve never been more sure about anything in my life.”

“Just remember,” I growl. “Yutaro Kano is mine.”

Chapter 29

Augusto

After the sparring session with Ryo, we’re both warmed up for action. As we drive toward the mansion where Tanaka lives, I’m ready to put an end to him so I can return to the States.

Before getting married, I never thought of taking time off. I lived for the rush and making money. But now that Yuki is in my live, I can’t wait for the vacation.

I’ll probably spend the first week in bed with her before taking her away for a long weekend.

“Stop daydreaming about your wife,” Lorenzo mutters.

“You’re one to talk.” I shoot him a scowl. “Don’t think I don’t notice all the texts you’re sending Bianca.”

He shrugs, a broad smile pulling at his mouth. “She gets pissed off if I don’t reply to her immediately.”

Laughing, I shake my head. “My sister has always been like that.”

As the motor brigade of nine cars comes to a screeching stop outside the mansion, I see Ryo already scaling the wall to incapacitate the guards so he can open the gate for us.

“Do you think he has what it takes?” Lorenzo asks.

“Yes. He’s tough and angry. It will carry him through the first couple of years.

When the gate rolls open, we drive onto the grounds before jumping out of the vehicles.

Gunfire erupts, and keeping my arms up and my finger on the trigger of my weapon, I constantly glance around me as we jog toward the front door.

While a group of my men deals with the guards in the front yard, the rest surround me as we enter the mansion before we all split up to search for our targets.

Ryo catches up to me, and noticing the bloody streak on his bicep, I say, “Try not to get yourself killed and stay at my side.”

The last thing I need right now is for him to die. Yuki and I are in a good place, and I want to keep it that way.

When we approach a lounge with open doors leading to a veranda, naked women scatter while the men they were fucking scramble for their weapons.

One grabs a lamp from a side table and storms us, and while Ryo moves forward to fight him, I focus on another who’s making a run for the door.

Pulling the trigger, I shoot the fucker in his ass, my men making quick work of the rest.
