“What do skinny jeans and dusty, someone-definitely-got-murdered-here attics have in common?” I asked.

He looked so freaking puzzled as he blinked at me. “What?”

I clicked my tongue. “I said: what do skinny jeans and–”

“No, I got that,” he cut me off. “I’m just a little confused as to why you’d ask me something like this while we’rekissing, Zaira.”

I chuckled and pressed a quick peck on his lips. “Just answer the question.”

He scratched the side of his neck. “Uh…” He shook his head. “I don’t know, seriously. I’m still reeling from the abrupt change of your behavior.”

“Do you want three guesses?”

He pressed his teeth to his bottom lip. “No?”

I winked at him. “Too bad, Mister Spoilsport. The answer is ballroom. What skinny jeans and dusty, someone-definitely-got-murdered-here attics have in common is aballroom. Get it?Ballroom.Ball…room.”

“Good Lord,” he muttered. “You aren’t human, are you? You’re from planet Jupiter or something, isn’t it?” he asked, and then shook his head. “Because humans can’t say shit like this. It’s physically impossible for them to.”

I laughed. “Well technically, it’s Kenzie’s joke. She’s the one who came up with it. I was just passing it along as a promotion.”

Gallan shook his head –again. “Whatareyou?”

I laughed harder. “Someone who is going to feed you yummy food and kiss you until your lips fall off.”

He grinned and adjusted my glasses. “Promises, promises.”

The microwavedinged.

I smirked at him. “It isn’t a promise if I intend to deliver.” I stepped away from him and walked over to the microwave.

“What have I done to deserve you, you unique woman?” he asked.

I looked at him over my shoulder. “A great many things, actually – one of those being that you wear jeans that have enough room for yourballs.”

He leaned back and laughed, and damn if that action didn’t fill me with warmth.

Gallan was my palette of colors; he was a stroke of brightness in my otherwise dull canvas of a life.

He was starlight – so stunningly overpowering; so fucking hypnotizing. And I’ll be damned if I ever walk away from him; if I ever let anything or anyone get in the way of what we shared.

Of what I knew we both deserved tohave.
