My heart was pounding like crazy, and it was so very hard to focus on one thing, because my mind was thinking of a hundred different things at the same damn time.
What was I gonna say?
What would he say?
How would he react?
Outcomes.
Casualties.
Opinions and–
“Zaira!” Kenzie hissed, and when I glanced at her, I found her scowling at me. “Go! He’s going to leave if you don’t.”
“Uh…”
Oh God, oh God, oh God.
“Just. Fucking. Go.” She pushed me in his direction.
I yelped, and then crouched on all fours like a fucking rhinoceros when my left foot came in contact with one of the wires on the ground. My palms hurt, and my dignity poisoned itself, but other than that, I was fine. I think.
I heard Kenzie gasp from behind me, and the conversation Gallan and Shane were in between? Yeah, it stopped the moment I fell face-first to my looming pile of humiliation.
“Ma’am, are you all right?” Shane asked.
I closed my eyes and pressed my lips together before shamefully getting to my feet. Adjusting my crooked glasses, I clutched my comic tighter and released a few long breaths in order to calm myself down.
A deep breath in. A slow one out.
In… Out.
In. Out.
In, and out…
I slowly opened my eyes, and found Gallan looking worriedly at me.
Great.
Just. Fucking. Great.
This is exactly how I’d envisioned meeting my favorite actor for the first time.
“Hey,” Gallan said with a smile, and then waved at me. “You alright there?” He looked at me a little sympathetically, which resulted in my entire body to heat in embarrassment.
“Good luck,” Kenzie whispered from behind, and I knew she was only teasing me over my predicament.
I smiled awkwardly at the two men before me, and then began walking towards Gallan.
It was too late to back out anyway. I had to do this now. I hadn’t taken that animal-like fall for nothing, after all.
Breathe, Zaira, I told myself.Fucking breathe, or else you’ll choke yourself and turn blue in the face like Joffrey Baratheon.
A deep breath in. A slow one out.
In… Out.
In. Out.
In, and out…
Inevitable collision, here I come…
