“Woah. That’s fucking hot,” Matteo whispers, defusing the situation in an instant as I attempt not to giggle.

“I’m trying to be serious here,” I tell him, and he shrugs.

“He’s probably just mad about the raging boner in his pants,” Dean comments, and I look over at him, pointing to the matching one he’s also sporting. Dean just smirks. “You didn’t suck my dick, leaving me with nowhere for my knot-”

“Stop!” I interrupt, my cheeks flaming red, turning back to my mother, who is thankfully unbothered.

“We really do need to move quickly, flower,” Coal says, and I nod.

“Let's go, then,” I motion for him to lead the way. Coal grabs Quil and drags him away, making me roll my eyes.

Once we’re done with whatever this is, Coal has some explaining to do. Quil too. Why the fuck did he bite me, and how did he know it wasn’t going to kill me?

“Why did Coal’s mate mark give me the ability to shift?” I ask, as Dean, Matteo, my mother, and I follow the other two Wolves deeper into the forest. I inhale deeply, enjoying the natural scents around me, when I realize I’ve caught the scent of something else as well. “Woah. You all are seriously horny…” I mutter and then cringe when four sets of eyes swing back to stare at me. “My bad…”Perhaps it’s rude to point out their obvious arousal? They did that shit to me all the time.

“No. Not rude. Our scents are meant to draw you in, whereas your scent is more of an… uh…” Matteo pauses, searching for the right words.

“Your scent is meant to alert males you’re available to fuck, so if you could stop projecting how badly you want a cock- oof.” Quil’s words are cut off by Coal elbowing his best friend in the ribs. I can’t help the giggle that slips free this time. Watching Quil come unraveled is actually pretty fun.

“You need to work on your delivery man; you sound like a fucking barbarian,” Coal scolds him, making me snort. Coal scolding someone for their bad behavior? Priceless. I think the irony of that is lost on him.

“I can’t help it. She smells like honeysuckle, and I already know what she tastes like. It’s driving me fucking insane!” Quil’s attempt to whisper fails and my eyebrows shoot up, but if my mother heard his words, she’s playing dumb. “My Wolf wants to fuck his mate, and I’m barely holding it together as it is.” I bite my lip, smiling at the fact that I’m driving him a little crazy. Good. Let him suffer. Although, from the looks of their erections, they’re all suffering. The thought that they’re all hard for me is pretty empowering.

“Anyway,” my mother says, clearing her throat, “to answer your question, I don’t know.” She says it confidently, but I get the sense she’s hiding something, and it draws my attention away from the scents of the men before me. Each one is distinct and different from the other, all very much alluring. All very distracting, but this is important.

“We should have more answers soon,” Coal says over his shoulder, and I nod. My mother is determined to keep up, but panting like she’s about to pass out, so I decide not to bother her until we get to wherever these men are leading us. I remember how hard it is to hold a conversation while you are panting for air.

“Where are we going?” I decide to ask, realizing I was all too willing to follow them with no questions asked.

“We’re your mates, Delilah. You’re safe with all of us. Even those two idiots,”Dean tells me through the bond, and I smile, as the urge to jump on him surges through me, and all four men groan.

“Sorry,” I whisper sheepishly. I’m actually not trying to torment them with my scent, but it is a little amusing.

“It will be easier to explain once we get there, which will be in just a moment,” Coal answers, and I just shrug, catching a new scent.

“Wolves?” I ask, and Dean slows, so he can walk beside me.

“Rogues…”

“Rogues?!” I snap. Just as we step into a clearing, they come into view. Most of them appear to be lounging around in their shifted forms.

Delilah

“Yes, Rogues. Is that a problem?” a girl snaps, and I look over to see she’s crouching low, next to the biggest Wolf I’ve ever seen. His fur is black as night, with one white streak across his muzzle.

“Alpha Nero, it’s good to see you again,” Coal says, thoroughly confusing me even further.

“Again?” I ask, looking between the two men, but then my eyes catch a red Wolf I instantly recognize but haven't seen in many years. So long, in fact, I hadn’t thought of him in a while. I push through the men before me, and approach the red Wolf, reaching my hand out, even as the girl beside her Alpha snarls at my outstretched hand. I can somehow sense that none of these Wolves are a threat to me, especially not the red one.

“Daniel?” my mother breathes, and the Wolf shifts before me, revealing an older man with graying red hair andbright green eyes. The woman who had been snarling hands him sweats that he quickly pulls on before my mother rushes him.

I freeze, paralyzed with fear for a split second, until I realize he means her no harm. He scoops her up into his arms and spins her. My mouth falls open, and I just stare. I haven’t seen my mom embrace anyone in… ever.

“There is much to discuss. Please, would you all accompany me to my shelter?” Alpha Nero asks, no longer in his Wolf form.

“What the fuck?” I whisper, and the man, Daniel apparently, spins to face me.

“Please, Delilah, I have so much to tell you. Will you give us the chance to explain?” He sets my mother beside him but doesn’t release her as they both step up to me. He reaches out a hand to caress my face, and a tear falls down his cheek. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispers, and my mother chokes on a sob, nodding.
