Luna pulls back. “Oh my God! Did you—”

I cover her mouth with my hand. “Eyes and ears, Luna.”

She nods.

“Have you… checked?” she asks quietly her lips trying and failing not to smile.

“No, I’m too nervous.”

“Planned?”

I nod.

“Then this is a good thing.”

“It is, but still, in the middle of war? I don’t know what we were thinking.”

“You were thinking how amazing something wonderful would be in the middle of a terrible situation.”

I take a breath and smile. “You’re right, but I still have to…”

“Pee?”

“Pee,Luna?”

“What?! You saideyes and ears;I don’t know the code words for this stuff! This has never happened to me, you know me and pills are closer thanyou and I.”

“I guess you’re right, the code word I’d use would be test.”

“Well you’ve gone and spoiled it Vasi, your husbands a genius, pee and test?He definitely knows now.”

I chuckle. “He’s more than likely done watching us, he’s in a meeting with Angelo.”

Luna rolls her eyes, “I’m still upset at you for that.”

“For what?”

“Not telling me he was looking for a wife, we could have been sistersandhe like Latinas, hello?!” She says gesturing at herself.

I burst out into a laugh, “Luna! He’s been in love with Adriana forever. You and him were never going to happen.”

Luna laughs and throws a piece of bread at me as she heads for the fridge. “I know, but the fact remains; we’d be a hot couple.”

She grabs two bottles of water and sets one in front of me.

“You’re unhinged,” I tell her, picking up the stray bread and popping it into my mouth. “Besides, you have your own Amato boy now.”

“He’s not an Amato,” she says quickly.

“Practically is, maybe not by blood, but by bond. Same upbringing, same glare, same possessive streak,same...” I waggle my eyebrows.

Luna blushes furiously, and I know I’ve hit the mark. “You’re terrible and you just told me way too much information about Santo.”

I shrug. “And that look told me all I need to know about Nico.”

“Don’t say his name!” Her eyes shift away from mine. “We’re just... keeping each other company.”

I snort. “Is that what they’re calling it these days?”
