Shannon
Shannon:I didn't get a chance to ask you about Patrick when we checked in last Friday. Is he doing all right?
Tom:He's as well as Patrick ever is.
Shannon:In other words, he's growly and grumpy and pickling himself in malcontent for no apparent reason?
Tom:Essentially, yes.
Shannon:He doesn't want to say it but he's loving that project on the Cape. Something about it being an old sea captain's house works for him big time.
Tom:I agree with that and I also believe being out of the office is working well. He's not around to lose his mind about pens or printers or whatever else seems to bother him. He calls Andy about 90 times a day and she walks around with an earpiece in because of it but she knew what she was getting into with him.
Shannon:Accurate though it's kind of like a cute, forced separation before the wedding.
Tom:And what a wedding it will be.
Shannon:Are you still salty about her paper flower bouquet? Because you should really let it go. There are plenty of other things to worry about than Andy having some books carved up.
Tom:As a matter of fact, I was not being salty about the bouquet.
Shannon:If you say so.
Tom:It's sacrilege! One doesn't show their love for a book by mutilating it.
Shannon:Can we talk about Sam now? Or should we go deep on the paper flowers again?
Tom:Sam is his usual fickle self. He's fine. He'd be better if he could commit to some projects and let me schedule the rest of his year but like I said, fickle.
Shannon:Nothing new there. And Matt?
Tom:You know all about Matt.
Shannon:Yeah, I do. I got an earful from my sister-in-law last weekend at brunch. Lauren isn't loving his newfound work ethic.
Tom:He's the reason there are no available tradespeople in the tri-state area. I want to be troubled by that but his projects are finishing on schedule and under budget and they're selling for very pretty pennies. So what if he gives himself an ulcer in the process? He'll recover.
Shannon:He's not great at knowing his limits. Remember when he went running in a blizzard and Nick had to hook him up to an IV?
Tom:There's a bottle of whiskey somewhere in that story too.
Shannon:Isn't there always? These are my brothers we're talking about.
Tom:Fair point.
Shannon:And how are you doing?
Tom:Me? All good.
Shannon:Yeah? Nothing to report?
Tom:Not a ton, no. Obviously, I'm eager for you to return. I'm fine managing my team but looking after your legal assistants and Patrick's people is…special. But it's all good. We're doing well.
Shannon:Okay so is there a point at which we're going to discuss this?
Tom:Discuss what?
Shannon:You damn well know what I'm talking about.
