"Get rid of the apron," she ordered, jerking her chin in my direction.

Smiling, I loosened the ties and chucked the fabric over my shoulder. "How's this?" I asked.

"Haven't decided yet," April said, leaning against my arm. I held the plate between us, and gestured for her to eat. "I'm going to need some more time to look over the goods before forming a conclusion."

She winked as she dug into the eggs, and the weight in my chest expanded like a breath held too long. It wasn't so much uncomfortable as it was an awareness that I needed something I'd been denying myself.

"You can have all the time you want, April."

"That's good news because I'm also going to need you to make these eggs again," she said.

I pressed a kiss to her temple. "Just say the word, honey. I'm yours."
