Reese’s head hung low. I wanted to know what she thought, but I did my best to hold back and not rush her.

“If marriage between shifters and humans is illegal, how can I be your mate?”

I shook my head and smiled as I ran my thumb down the side of her cheek. “The gods and Mother Moon do not abide by the rulings of man or beast.”

I cupped her hips and brought her body flush against mine. She inhaled when I pressed my hips against her stomach, making her feel the erection that threatened to break free of my jeans.

“I never have nor would I ever deny you to anyone. I didn’t answer my cousins directly as a means to keep you safe. I don’t know their pack too well, and I didn’t want to chance them or someone they know telling the Alliance who you were to me and where you were.”

I shook my head angrily. “That blew up in my face as well, since the whole damn commune came out once they found out your abilities.” I doubted that they told the Alliance anything since I hadn’t heard from them yet.

“But how—” I dropped my mouth over hers.

I pulled back to say, “That’s enough talking. Now, I’ll show you why you should never fucking disobey me again.”

Reese

Pure wolf in human form stared at me as Chael’s glare burned into my eyes. I wanted to shrink away from that hard look, but I remained still, sitting high on my knees at the center of the bed.

“How’re you going to do that?” I dared to ask, not knowing where such courage came from.

The muscle in his jaw ticced, and my already moist panties almost disintegrated from the flood between my legs. My breath caught when Chael moved with lightning speed, flipping my body over onto his lap as he sat on the side of the bed.

“You are not about to do what I think you’re going to do,” I insisted and tried to wiggle free when he started to unbuckle my jeans. I was no match for his strength as he quickly dragged my pants and panties down my legs, leaving my bare bottom on top of him.

The scream I wanted to let out somehow came out in a moan when his fingers sank between my thighs from behind, and he inserted them into my wet core. Air hissed out from between my teeth at the intrusion. My pussy walls clamped around his digits.

Chael pushed his fingers inside to the knuckles and curved them, making contact with my G-spot. I bucked my hips against his. A part of me told me that I shouldn’t be enjoying this supposed punishment or whatever it was, but my body didn’t give a damn about all of that.

I begged and pleaded for him to go faster, to rub against my clit. All I needed was a little more, and I would reach my peak.

“Do you want me to make you come, Reese?” Chael asked tauntingly next to my ear.

“Yess.”

He pulled his hand out of me. “Too bad.”

I drew a blank for what felt like a full minute, but when I opened my eyes again, Chael wrapped one hand around my throat, lifting my head slightly while his other hand rested against my ass.

“You’re going to have to beg for it.”

I started to ask him what that meant, but a firm smack against my ass stopped me. My thighs and buttocks jiggled from the impact. The sting of his hit started to settle before he administered another one.

“Don’t ever run from me again,” he demanded, peppering each word with another smack to my ass. His hold on my throat tightened as well. I could still breathe, but his grip held me in place.

“Tell me,” he ordered angrily, now alternating between smacking and massaging my butt. “Let me know that you’ll never run from me again.” He squeezed my throat and then loosened.

Shit. I was on the verge of coming all over his lap. My clit throbbed. One short brush against it would result in an explosion. But Chael expertly avoided touching anywhere near my clit. He gave just enough to push me to the edge but kept me from plummeting over.

If my brain and body were working under my direction, I would’ve reached up and slapped him or clawed his eyes out. But my body wasn’t my own right then. It belonged to him.

“I-I won’t,” I panted.

“Won’t what?”

I could barely get a complete sentence out, but I managed to answer him. “I won’t run from you again,” I promised.
