It was definitely time for my ass to get out of the West Coast for a little while.

Chapter 28

The Crew

Luke

The music from the bar blared even before I pulled the door open. When I did, the volume increased and a small amount of relief enveloped me.

Fuck Off.Though it’d been a while since I was last at Pit’s bar, a sense of familiarity surrounded me as I entered. Slowly, I peered around the bar. Not seeing Pit, I knew there was only one place he could be. I started toward the back room that only certain people were allowed to enter.

“Rom,” I nodded to the bulky dude standing out front.

“Luke,” he nodded and opened the door, granting me access to the private room. Scanning the room, I found Pit seated at the round table in the center, his arm wrapped around Skittles.

Striding closer, I slipped my hand into my pocket. Pulling out the wad of cash in my pocket, I toss it onto the middle of the table as I approached.

“The hell?” Pit grunted, looking up at me angrily.

“That’s for the invoice you sent me, fucker,” I said, glaring down at him. I let my gaze travel over to the woman seated next to him, and nod. “Scarface. You’re looking lovely this evening.”

“Ah, sunshine. Good to see you, butt munch, but I have your fucking Scarface, bitch.”

I chuckled and looked to Pit. “You sure you want to marry a woman with that kind of mouth?”

He curled his lips into smile. “You have no idea what that mouth can do. Fuck,” Pit growled annoyed, as he turned his head to Skittles who’d just punched the shit out of him in the stomach.

“Don’t try me with that bullshit, Will. He’ll have you in the desert. Try me.”

“Excuse me, but we were in the middle of something.”

For the first time since approaching the booth, I allowed my gaze to travel over to the man seated across from Pit and Skittles. I frowned, recognizing the guy as a state senator or some shit. Pit always had one of these fuckers in here doing deals and whatnot.

“Get the fuck out, Jean. I’ll get you want you need. This fucker has decided to grace us with his presence, which means we’re done.”

“Ro will see you out if you need,” Skittles said when the dumb fuck didn’t seem to get the message.

“I can always assist you out of your seat,” I added just for good measure, cracking my knuckles. I was already in a pissy mood from the previous night’s events. I didn’t mind taking a little aggression out on this jackhole’s face.

Wisely, he didn’t say anything else as he slid to the end of the booth, rising, giving us one final look.

“The hell are you doing here?” Pit asked.

“I can’t pop in to visit an old friend?”

“Cut the shit, Luke. What’s that puppy dog look in your eyes about?”

I blinked, hating Skittles was able to read me so damn well. “No puppy dog look here, Taste the Rainbow. Just here to pay a debt.” I gestured my head in the direction of the cash still lying on the table.

“What’s that for?” she asked.

“Your fucking fiancé sent me an invoice for his impromptu visit to California.”

Pit chuckled. “Sure as fuck did. You owed me for those flights. Nice of you to run my cash in person.”

“Whatever. The hell are you two up to?”

“You mean to tell me you drug your ass back to town and didn’t call me?”
