“We? So you take part in these fights also? You’re not just a spectator?”
I shook my head and took her by the hand, guiding her closer to the front of the guys standing around. Upon closer inspection, I could see the two guys in the ring were Brick and Damon.
“Doc, didn’t expect to see you here.”
I turned to my left and see Joshua Townsend, smiling at me, before his eyes drop to my right side, at the same time Grace moved into his line of sight.
A small gasp escaped her lips.
“Grace, right? We met the other night.”
“Yes, Joshua Townsend.”
He chuckled. “Just Joshua down here.”
“I call him something else but that’s between the two of us,” a female voice stated.
I looked to his left to find Kayla grinning as her eyes moved, glancing between Grace and I.
“Nice to see you again … especially in a place like this,” Kayla snorted. “This guy doesn’t let me come down here too often, but considering how sensitive and hormonal I’ve been lately, he wised up and agreed to let me watch him tonight.” Kayla’s hand went to her rounded belly.
“Congratulations.” Grace smiled at Kayla.
Seeing the excitement on her face as she stared at Kayla, my heart began racing with tension. I wondered if that was what she wanted. I had to turn away. Wondering if a woman ever wanted children had never even occurred to me before. Because it never mattered in the past.
“Thank you. We’re hoping for a boy this time,” Kayla gushed while holding her belly. “Though if we have one, there’s no way he’s ending up down here.” Smirking, she faced her husband.
Joshua simply grunted and kissed his wife’s forehead.
“You fighting tonight, Doc?” he turned to me, asking.
“He better not be.”
A half smile touched my lips at the concern I heard in Grace’s voice. It beckoned me, and I leaned down to press a kiss to her lips before turning back to Joshua.
“We’re just here to watch.”
Grace sighed in relief.
After a few more words, Joshua and Kayla headed off toward the ring. I watched as Joshua guided his wife around the ring to a chair that was separated from everyone else but could still be seen from anywhere in the fighting square.
“They seem nice. I still don’t understand any of this.”
The way her face wrinkled in confusion and worry was so damn captivating to me that I took her face between my hands and kissed the shit out of her because it was the only way I could convey everything that I was feeling.
“You’re done ignoring me now, right?” I questioned against her moist lips.
I groaned inwardly at the same time my cock came alive in my jeans when she sucked in her bottom lip, thinking before she answered me.
“Maybe.”
She giggled when I let out a growl.
Her gaze circled the room, though her head was unable to move due to the fact that I was still holding firmly to her face.
“This is where you got those busted ribs?”
I frowned, my brow furrowing. “They’re not busted, just bruised slightly.”
