“My personal trainer.”
“And what the hell is he calling so early for?”
I rolled my eyes. “He calls every Tuesday and Thursday because I have a tendency to oversleep.”
“And does he always call you baby when you answer the damn phone?”
“You wouldn’t have heard that if you hadn’t been answeringmydamn phone in the first place!” I stomped my foot again.
“You were sleeping. I didn’t want it to wake you if it wasn’t an emergency.”
“Right,” I countered. “Can I have my phone please?” I held out my hand, demanding he place my phone in it.
He worked his jaw, staring down at me. Reluctantly, he placed my phone in the palm of my hand. “Luckily, I already told him what’ll happen if he calls my woman so goddamn early again.”
“You’re insane.”
He didn’t even try to counter my claim. Simply grinned at me and nodded, moving closer as if he was going to kiss me. I turned my head and his lips landed on my cheek. It shouldn’t have turned me on the way it did. but hell … obviously I’d lost any good sense.
“I’m going to meet my trainer,” I told him, proud of myself from keeping the tremble out of my voice.
“Great. We can work out together,” he answered, following on my heels as I made my way into my bedroom.
Two hours later, I pushed back into my condo again, after having a great workout with JT, though it was a bit awkward with Tyler being there the first twenty minutes of my session. To make matters worse, he’d only had the tuxedo he’d worn to my place the night before to wear. If it hadn’t been for the fact that he had his own training he needed to get to, I was certain he would’ve remained there throughout my entire workout.
I had to apologize to JT once Tyler left and that seemed to get our training session back on track. However, JT was a lot less flirtatious and less hands-on throughout the workout. I didn’t mind it but I also knew it was because of whatever Tyler had threatened him with. I wasn’t quite sure how to feel about that.
“Is breakfast here yet?” Resha questioned, bursting through my door.
I would’ve been startled if I hadn’t expected it. She rarely knocked, instead using her key to enter my place. I had a key for her place as well, though I rarely used it, save for when she was out of town and I needed to drop off her mail and water her plants.
“Good morning to you, too. Breakfast will be here soon. I’m going to shower.”
“Good, ’cause you stink.” Grinning, she waved her hand in front of her nose, screwing up her face.
“Heffa!” I told her, tossing my gym towel at her.
“Ew!” she screeched. Resha acted as if she was allergic to all things involving sweat and physical exertion.
I waved her off and went to quickly shower, moisturize, and style my hair before I heard the buzzer of my front door sound.
“Food’s here!” Resha called.
“Let him in,” I yelled back.
Tyler had kept his word and ordered Resha and I breakfast for our morning planning session, even though I’d tried to tell him that wasn’t necessary.
I always keep my word.
That’s what he’d said to me. The look in his eye when he’d said it chipped away just a little bit more at the wall I’d been trying to erect between he and I.
I stepped into the black knee-length skirt, ankle booties, and the white silk blouse that was patterned with multi-colored lips all over. I loved this shirt.
“Oh, I love that top on you,” Resha remarked, obviously agreeing with my taste as I emerged from the bedroom.
“Thank you.”
“You’ve got meetings today?” she questioned.
