“Lunatic!” Kayla yelled once I plopped her ass on the bed. She stared up at me, eyes dripping with anger and confusion. Her mouth was turned up into an angry pout, which looked so damn good I had to restrain myself from tasting those lips. “I told you I’m sleeping in the guest room.”
“Like hell you are. You’re not running away again.”
“I’m still in the same house. How is that running?” She threw her hands up in frustration and I swore that in a matter of minutes those same hands were going to be locked in my grasp, over her head as my hips pistoned in and out of her.
I moved closer to the bed, crowding her space. “You know damn well sleeping in the guest room is an effort to put space between us. Why?”
“You didn’t see what just happened? Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong. The expressions on their faces?”
I furrowed my brows, bending even closer. “The only looks I saw were of surprise and some grief.”
“What about when Mrs. Armstrong saw you holding my hand? Even if she didn’t give us a funny look, how do you think that made them feel?”
“I don’t really give a shit how it made them feel,” I growled.
Kayla gasped and pulled back.
I ignored the twinge of guilt in my chest. “Look, Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong are great people. I love them still. I feel for the pain they suffered and must still be suffering from losing Chelsea, but that’s where it ends. I grieved long and hard after Chelsea died.” I snapped my mouth shut to prevent my telling her she would’ve known it’d taken me close to two years after Chelsea died to entertain a woman beyond a one-night stand. But she’d left. She wasn’t there to witness any of that. I knew in my heart of hearts, if she had been there, things would’ve been different. For the both of us.
“She was my first real love. But she’s gone and I had to accept that. It was the only way I could move on with my life. They’ve seen me date other women before.”
Kayla parted her lips to respond but then sucked her bottom lip in between her teeth. The anger that’d been present in her eyes trailed away and became replaced by reticence.
“Tell me what you’re thinking,” I demanded, moving closer.
She shook her head.
“Don’t,” I snapped sharply. “Don’t shut me out like that.”
“I …” She pushed out a breath, running her hand through her hair.
Goddamn that move always made me wild with want for her. A vision of that auburn hair spread across my silk pillowcase, her biting her lower lip just as she was doing but for entirely different reasons seized me.
“I guess I just have to get used to seeing them. I wasn’t expecting it,” she finally stated. Her brown eyes rose to meet mine and I needed more contact. The need for words ceased. It was time for some action.
“You’ll have time to adjust.” I moved over her, my hand going underneath her skirt and cupping her mound. “In the meantime, you owe me for those shrimps you stole off my plate.”
Her eyes widened.
“Oh, you think I forgot?”
“Forgot?” she moaned, eyelids fluttering. She shook her head. “No, I just thought you’d be a gentleman and not make me pay up.”
“Oh, sweetheart.” I placed a kiss to her nose, her lips, and then her earlobe, before moving to whisper in her ear, “Not only are you going to pay, you’re paying extra for making me carry you up those damn stairs.”

Kayla
Though I protested a little, this was a debt I was more than willing to pay. I gasped and moaned, arching my back off the bed as Joshua had both of my hands raised above my head. He licked his way from my neck to my lips, offering me a taste of his mouth. A taste I couldn’t refuse. I sucked his tongue into my mouth, garnering him free reign to taste all of me. I shivered all the way down to my core when his tongue snaked out, licking the roof of my mouth.
I struggled to break my hands free of his hold but he tightened his grip. I wasn’t satisfied with that. I wanted to feel him.
“J-Josh,” I panted, breaking free of his lips. “I want to taste you tonight.”
He pulled back just slightly to stare down at me.
This was the first time I’d offered to pleasure him with my mouth. It wasn’t something I was terribly comfortable with but just the idea of doing it for him, made my mouth water.
