I loved the way she kissed me after I ate her out, it was almost as if she needed to taste herself on my lips, which I gladly allowed.

Needless to say, lunch was eaten a little later than usual that day.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Joshua

They showed up together. Parking now.

I stared at Brutus’ text as I waited in the locker room of one of my Portland underground gyms. I quickly typed a response before stuffing my phone back into my bag.

“You ready for this?”

I lifted my gaze to see Connor peering down on me. He’d helped me set up this little venture with the two police officers, having his own Portland connections.

“Am I supposed to be nervous?” I stood, staring at him in the eye.

He gave a one shoulder shrug. “You are planning on taking out two cops.”

I lifted an eyebrow. “Who said anything about taking them out?”

His blond eyebrows raised.

“There’re more ways to take someone out. These bastards will make it out of here alive but their lives won’t ever be the same.” That, I could promise.

Connor whistled approvingly before clapping me on the shoulder. “I see I’ve taught you something.”

I shrugged him off. “Get the fuck off of me. You didn’t teach me shit. This is in my bloodline. Just like kicking ass is in yours. Ask Mark,” I commented. Connor was still a little peeved to have learned about Mark’s fighting at our clubs when he wasn’t around, but I suspected his little brother had finally put him in his place.

“That little shit,” Connor grumbled.

I grunted. “Let’s go. I’m about to teach you a few lessons on taking someone out while also leaving them breathing.”

Stepping around Connor, I made my way through the heavy metal doors that led to the makeshift fighting ring that’d been set up in the building. I grinned when the first two faces I saw were the two officers staring at one another, wearing skeptical expressions. Brutus had conveniently sent these two assholes an invite to an underground fighting ring. They were given specific instructions on how to get to the location, and not to tell anyone besides each other. I had Brutus make sure that they had not been followed or told anyone else about the fight. I knew they would show up. I felt it in my gut that these guys believed they were tougher than they actually were, and they obviously weren’t opposed to doing things that crossed the line into illegal territory.

“Gentlemen,” Connor shouted at the two, clapping his hands. The smacking sound echoed around the near silent room.

There were others in the crowd who were regulars of the Portland underground fighting scene. I knew most of them, and who I didn’t know, Connor did. They weren’t talking about any of this to anyone.

“You must be Ramirez and Waltz. Welcome. We can’t tell you what an honor it is to have two of Portland’s finest bestow us with their company,” Connor greeted.

Both men’s expressions changed from skeptical to cocky instantly. As if they’d been expecting to have been met with such high regard.

“You know we could shut this place down if we wanted to, right? One phone call would be all it took,” Ramirez spoke up, glancing around at the other men.

“Where would the fun in that be, gentlemen?” I finally spoke up, moving forward. The building was dimly lit, and it wasn’t until I got within a few feet of Ramirez that he saw me.

His eyes widened a smidgen. “And you are?”

“My name isn’t important right now. What is important is that you two came here for a reason. Every man steps through those doors with a reason to fight. What’s the matter? Job no longer interesting?” I taunted.

Ramirez’ dark eyes narrowed just as Waltz took a turn at speaking.

“Job’s a bitch. All of these so called activists shaking shit up. We can no longer do our job the way it needs to be done.”

I narrowed my eyes on Waltz. I remembered from his file that he’d had at least two citations for aggressively handling suspects. One had ended up in the hospital with a broken leg, but no serious investigation was ever conducted on the incident. I was going to have fun taking these fuckers down.

“Then why don’t we help spice up your life a little bit. How about you first?” I gave Waltz my most endearing smile.
