Ren:Don’t worry, we got most of him back into the urn.

Me:Would several laughing emojis be a completely inappropriate response?

Ren:Are you kidding? Robert would have laughed his ass off.

Me:

Ren:Perfect.

As I laughed, another notification popped up in my messages.

Skylar:Hey big Daddy.

I set the phone down with a sigh. I’d been neglecting my usual roster of hookups in favor of my hand for a while. All it took was remembering howdelicateRen was and how hot we’d been together, and I’d be coming in my fist moments later. The lie I kept telling myself was that, given how busy I was with my expanding business, it was more efficient.

Yeah, I didn’t believe that, either.

I definitely didn’t want to pine after the man like my buddy Sawyer did for Hendrix, so I’d be wise to restart my rotation.

Oh, what a difficult life I lead, I thought, laughing at the way I’d let Ren take over my mind. There was no need to complicate things, especially when one of my favorite twinks was reaching out. Picking up the phone again, I typed out a quick response.

Me:Hey, baby boy. How have you been?

Skylar:Missing my Daddy bear something fierce.

Me:Ah, we can’t have that now, can we?

Skylar:Can you come over tonight?

Me:I dunno. Can you be a good boy and wear that frilly robe for me?

Skylar:Yes, Daddy.

Skylar:When can you be here? I can get pretty and make us cocktails.

I checked my watch.

Me:Baby, that sounds perfect. Meet you in an hour?

Skylar:Yay! I can’t wait to see you again.

I put away my phone and grabbed a few condoms from the stash in my desk. I wasn’t super into the Daddy/boy dynamic, but it was fun to play every once in a while. Also, Skylar was twenty-three and looked nothing like Ren, which should work in my favor.

Skylar opened the door to his high-dollar River Walk condo wearing his sexy widow robe, stylish makeup, and very little else. He’d put a lot of effort into his look, and I made sure to whistle appreciatively.

“Daddy!” he squealed, jumping into my arms.

“Hey, baby boy.” I kissed him before I set him down. “How’re you doing?”

He pulled back, a small frown on his sparkly lips. “What’s wrong, Daddy?”

I opened my mouth to deny that anything was wrong, but I couldn’t force the words out.

“Major?” he said, dropping to his normal register. “What’s going on?”

By this point I’d normally have carried him to his bedroom and started bossing him around the way he liked.

I rubbed my forehead. “Sorry, Skylar. You look beautiful tonight. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”
