“I'd rather not think about Sparrow as delicious because he’s practically a brother to me. Also, I don’t wanna think of him—or you—anywhere in the same zone as Joaquin.”

“Gotcha. So Joaquin is dating the guy who looks like my husband?” Roly asks, putting things together a little too quickly for my comfort.

Ah, who am I kidding? Nothing about this is comfortable.

“They look totally different, but he’s nearly the same body type, if that makes any sense. Colt is younger, and he's…God, he's so bright.”

“And they got together?”

I nod, clenching my jaw as the neighborhood changes.

“They didn't invite you?”

My chest constricts. “No,” I say softly.

God, that fucking hurts to admit.

“Did you want them to invite you?” Roly asks, tilting his head.

I don’t know if I’ll be able to handle Roly’s empathy.

“No, of course not. That's ridiculous.”

Roly doesn’t say anything. I let out a big sigh. “Also, yes.”

“I can see your conundrum,” Roly says, grinning. “You can't really maintain your reputation as an inveterate slut if you settle down with two beautiful men.”

“Fuck off, Roly.”

He cackles. “No, but seriously. Sounds like you’re hurt that they didn't invite you, but there's no way they would have assumed you’d be open to such an invitation.”

I shake my head. “I know that it's a stupid problem to have—and this makes me feel like a crazy person to say it—but I’m starting to think they’re fucking with my head.”

“In what way?”

“Well, Joaquin’s my boss. And Colt is a coworker. So they're not exactly letting the ranch owner know what's going on between them. But when it comes to those of us who live in the bunkhouse with them, they aren't hiding a damn thing.”

“So…less a rotation thing and more of a roommate thing.”

I let out a sad huff of breath. “Yeah.”

He taps his chin, a crease appearing between his brows. “Wait, so you all work together? Damn, that's messy.”

“No shit. And I don't do messy.”

“Yeah, I remember that about you,” Roly says. “But you think they're doing it on purpose? What’s their plan?”

“I don’t know! They were just as single-for-life as I am, but now all of a sudden, they’re doing all of these couple-y things together. Last week they went into Fredericksburg for dinner and didn't invite anyone else.It was just them. And then they extended it to an overnight stay at some cute little B&B with a hot tub in the back.A fucking hot tub.”

“How do you know about the hot tub? Were they sending you pictures?”

I sneer at myself in the rearview mirror as I come to a red light. “No. Colt mentioned the name of the place, and I looked it up.”

“You B&B stalked them?”

“Well, when you put it that way…”

Roly rolls his eyes. “Exactly. And to be honest, what they’re doing doesn’t seem so bad. If y’all are all living on top of one another, they’re gonna want some privacy.”
