“I thought you said he was a vamp.” My eyes start watering, and I pull my shirt up over my nose.

Miss Lillian’s glare could freeze the nads off an elephant, so I hush and let her say her piece. “Remy is a vampire, but his blood source for the last several months has been a werewolf.”

I fake-heave, glad we found the guy, unable to picture someone so prim-looking feeding from a werewolf.Poor asshole.Miss Lillian smacks me with the fly swatter.

“Gross! That has bug guts on it!”

“Stop bein’ mean to him! He’s a nice man!”

“I’m not bein’ mean to him. I just don’t understand why he’d drink from a werewolf when there are skunks out there who smell—and probably taste—better.”

She swats me again. “It was his lover, you jerk. And that’s who kidnapped him and put him in that warehouse to begin with.”

“Why’re you swattin’ me? You’re just provin’ my point about weres to begin with.”

She stiffens next to me. Shit. Jameson was a warlock, but his people had were ancestry. Big cats, I think.

“Not Jameson, of course.”

“Of course,” she says, narrowing her eyes. “Are you ready to give blood?”

“Yes ma’am.” I roll up my sleeve, annoyed at the vibe in the kitchen. Fuck, I’ve been going since five-thirty this morning and didn’t even get to enjoy my beignets. I’m just here to help.

I flick open my knife, wipe it off on my jeans, and slice into a vein as Miss Lillian holds the vamp’s mouth open. When the first drops of blood hit his teeth, his fangs descend.

Damn, those are sharp.

Also, I know the moon’s fucking with me when a nearly lifeless vamp reeking of werewolf sauce is sorta turning me on. Thankfully, my blood is quickly overpowering the smell of werewolf.

Good.

“Keep going this way, then?” I ask, and Miss Lillian nods.

“If you don’t mind.”

I look down on the man’s lush mouth, directing more drops onto his tongue, and shrug. “I don’t mind at all.”

Nobody needs to know that I’m trying to figure out how good his soft-looking mouth would feel on my pecker. I’m guessingpretty fucking good—maybe even better than the willing waitstaff at Carter’s. Also, he’s so slight, it’s easy as anything to imagine him stuck on my knot, moaning as he comes and comes and comes.

Hmm. I seem to remember hearing somewhere that shifters and vamps have similarly microscopic refractory periods. Huh. After taking care of this guy,job oneis to go find a suitably scruffy vamp lover to ruin my bedsheets with.

A pained whine from the table steals my attention.

God, Lazare. New low.

His body shakes as he stares up at me, his eyes wild with pain.

“Pain meds?” I ask Lil.

She shakes her head. “This’ll be over before they’d have an effect. I had no idea he’d heal so quickly with your blood. Did you?”

I shake my head as the vamp passes out. “What’s his name again?”

“Remy. I know he looks posh, but he really is rather charming.”

“He seems okay,” I say softly, reaching out to push the hair from his forehead. “We’ve got you, Remy.”
