“You love me and you know it.”

The three men who’ve taken over my living room start cracking up, and I laugh a little, too, but it hurts. After a beat, Heath makes his way to the door. “I’m glad you’re okay, Roly. And Nick, let me know if you need help with this one. I know he’s a handful.”

He walks out the door, and Nick’s got a smile like a Cheshire cat in possession of a canary.

“Don’t say it,primo.”

“What? I wasn’t going to say anything.”

Jonathan snorts. “Oh, if you’re not gonna say it, I will. Roly, how—and be as specific as you can here—does Heath know that you’re a handful?”

I pluck off an imaginary piece of fluff from my T-shirt. “Everybody knows I’m a handful.”

Nick and Jonathan look at each other and crack up again. Jonathan pipes up, “Yeah, that’s not the vibe I was getting from him.”

“What the hell do you know? You’restraight.”

“Yeah, but I know vibes when I see them, and back when I had patch y’all up with you wearing that ridiculous robe, vibes. All over the place.”

Nick’s jaw drops. “No. Way. You caught them in his kitchen?”

“He didn’t catch anything. He’s talking about the mess… the second mess… that I made in Heath’s kitchen.”

Nick snorts. “The second mess that required medical intervention, you mean.”

Jonathan’s self-satisfied grin is making my face burn. “This one was wearing… well, I don’t know what he was wearing, but… it was lacy andshort.”

“Thanks for that, Jonathan. Your commentary issohelpful.”

“You’re welcome. It’s just one of many services I provide.”

I turn to Nick. “Heath gave me one of his girls’ robes because he thought I’d be swallowed up in one of his.”

Jonathan pipes up. “Still doesn’t explain away thevibes.”

“There were no vibes. At least not from him,” I say, petting Audrey.

“Aha!”

“Aha!”

“Jinx!”

I look between the two of them and shake my head. “Are y’all actually adults, or did I somehow wander into a tween party?”

Nick laughs. “So, you were definitely throwing vibes, then.”

I throw up my hands, frustrated by the obviousness of it all. “Maybe a tiny bit. I mean… you’ve seen him, right? He’sgorgeous.”

“He’s a very handsome man, and very much up your alley.”

Why yes, he has been.

Ahem.

“So, my vibes are nothing to ‘aha’ about. I just like bears, that’s all.”

Jonathan and Nick give each other a knowing look, and Jonathan mutters under his breath, “Doesn’t explain the vibes Heath was giving off.”
