We walked to the bed where I sat next to her. "I wouldn't have told you no and it would have been something to look forward to, had I known."
Her sparkle came back and she touched my cheek. "You'd probably have dragged me on the plane a week ago, if I had told you."
"Do your parents know you're here?"
She withdrew her hand, shaking her head. "When you check out, I'll go home."
I could have told her that wasn't right, but who was I to judge? Besides, it gave me more time with her than we'd spent together in any one sitting. It would also give us a chance to connect at a deeper emotional level.
Thank God I chose to come on the weekend when Kemar wouldn't ask me to do any work. The way I figured it, he also had to make contact with his people and let them know he was back in town He also said he wanted time with his family.
"So what are we doing this evening?" I asked, resting on both elbows.
Gina reached for the remote on the bedside table and switched on the television. "Do we need to do anything in particular?"
"No, I'm thinking that since we're in your territory, you might have things you want to show me."
She shook her head as a sexy smile edged across her face. "Not today. Let's save something for tomorrow."
"You're the boss," I said, taking the remote from her hand. I scrolled through the channels until I found one featuring the hotel.
Gina poked me with her elbow. "You're seriously going to watch that?"
"Why not. It will save us from getting lost in the building since we'll know where everything is located. It can't take more than five minutes."
"Five minutes of my life that I won't get back."
I pulled her on my lap and rubbed my forehead in her hair. "You're fussing about nothing."
"And you're too organized. That's taking the adventure out of being someplace new."
"But this is why we're a good match. We balance each other."
She nodded. "Yeah, you have a point. You're all about the details."
"And you believe in going with the flow." Gripping her around the waist, I said, "There's nothing wrong with either. You'll find that what I do takes the hassle out of things when you're in the middle of them."
"Are you calling me haphazard?"
"I'm keeping my thoughts to myself."
"You better, if you know what's good for you."
She silenced me with a kiss.
I allowed her to take the lead as she cupped her hands against my freshly-trimmed beard and had her way. When I tried to take control, she pulled back and stared at me with a serious expression. "Did you start something?"
Laughing, I shook my head.
Gina mumbled against my lips. "Since you didn't, just enjoy the ride, okay?"
"Yes, ma'am," I said, nipping her lip.
We stayed like that, playing with each other for the next few minutes before she wriggled against me, adjusting her position. Her sinuous movements put her closer and had me pressing against her hip. A knowing light filled her eyes as she stood between my legs and locked her arms behind my head. "Let's unpack what we need before we get carried away. I have to check my mail when I'm finished. After that we can eat, okay?"
Her hands slid down to my chest and I put her fingers to my lips and kissed them. "Whenever you're ready."
She looked at me hard then, and I knew she understood what I was saying when she breathed in deep and nodded. "Yeah."
