“In the middle of the field all by ourselves.”
I can’t help but grin wickedly as I daydream about the softness of Katrina’s inner thighs in that red skirt when she first sat down onto the turf and how badly I wanted to nestle my head in between them.
But I’ll settle with the memory of that fucking kiss.
The kiss we haven’t talked about since it happened.
I wonder what she’s thinking.
“Uh-oh. Your dick seems bound and determined to get you into trouble, my friend.” He laughs as he hands me a bowl of popcorn. “Help yourself.”
“My dick had nothing to do with it.”
“I can see all over your face that your dick had everything to do with it. You’re not actually thinking about the breakthrough therapy session you had. You’re thinking about something else and I bet it’s soft, wet and squishy.”
“You’re way off base.”
“Dude, let’s not play games with each other. I’m trying to help you before you shoot yourself in the foot. This is uncharted territory for a man like you, but you’re going after what the layperson understands as unattainable pussy. Leave it alone.”
“Her name is Katrina Banks,” I say with a steely glare, pissed that Cap’s referring to her outside of her name. “She’s not some random pussy and who the hell says that she’s unattainable?”
“Because she’s your damn therapist. A therapist you didn’t even want to talk to a few weeks ago and now you want her in your bed?”
“I’m willing to break a few rules to get what I want. I’ve never had a problem doing that.” I dig my hand into the popcorn and stuff some in my mouth.
Cap just shakes his head and sips his beer. “You’re a smart guy, but you gotta be careful here. Don’t let your dick lead the way. You don’t want to complicate things with this therapist of yours and, if I can speak frankly for a moment, mess up her career just because you got some feelings for her? The last thing you want to do is to be one of those clients that ruins everything by getting too attached. That won’t end well for either of you. It might even damage her reputation if word gets around that she got mixed up with one of her clients, especially a famous one. So take what she gives you and leave it at that, man. Be smart about this situation or else it won’t end well for anyone involved.”
“In theory, what you’re saying makes complete sense, but something about this woman is different. A small part of me is challenging myself to take the risk and see where exploring this unchartered territory leads us.”
“A small part of you that hangs between your legs,” he scoffs. “All I told you to do was to be nice to her and negotiate your damn jail sentence down to three therapy sessions. Now you want to explore unchartered territories and end up fucking this woman with whatever the consequences?”
“You see the problem now?” I smirk.
Cap sighs heavily as he leans all the way back in his recliner.
“What is so special about this woman other than she’s attractive?”
“She doesn’t give a damn who I am. She barely knows anything about my past. And she’s not impressed by me at all.”
“So she’s smart?” Cap laughs.
“And this is not some easy check for her.”
“What do you mean?”
“After the way we started, I thought she’d just go through the motions and send me on my way. I think she really believes she can help the people she sees, including me. She genuinely wants to give me the okay to play, but she’s going to make me do the work. No fast track for me or, as she would say, no skipping the line.”
“So she’s actually good at her job.”
“Yeah.”
“And that turns you on?” He chuckles.
“Sexy and smart? Hell, yes.”
“Look, Dak, this doesn’t need to be an issue as long as you don’t make it one. Look at it this way, Katrina wants to help you–so let her … even if there’s a little flirting and romance thrown in between you two. Just keep your wits about you and don’t get messy - remember everything you stand to lose: your career, your daughter, all of it. Don’t fuck it up! Got it?”
“I hear you, Cap. No messes. Got it.”
