“Shit, is that my fault?”
“No.” I place my hand on the side of his face. “Ray ruined my thing with Ruby and I wouldn’t change yesterday for the world.”
He leans in and kisses me softly on the lips, and I kiss him back.
“What about you?” I ask him. “I never asked you this, but I don’t want the search for Lev to interfere with your job.”
“Don’t worry about that,” he suddenly frowns.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing. Listen, my house manager is coming today and I like to give her some space when she cleans.”
“I can clean the apartment, Bronx. It’s the least I can do.”
“Hell, no. You’re not cleaning my place. I pay her a ridiculous amount of money to take care of it. Plus, we’re going out.”
“Where are we going?”
“Out.”
“Out where?”
“That information is on a need to know basis. Can you hand me my pain meds and that bottle of water on the side table?”
“Sure.”
I smile, happy that he’s finally listening to me about his pain regimen.
“I was wondering, is there another surgery you can get to help with the discomfort you have?”
“Quiet.”
“What?” I laugh.
“We’re not talking about my throat, your job, or anything else today.”
“What the heck are we going to talk about, then?”
“What’s your favorite store?”
He gets out of the bed fully nude and I can’t help but drool.
“What?”
“Stop eye fucking me,” he laughs.
“I’m just… appreciating all of your greatness.”
“You can’t handle all of my greatness right now. That’s why I’m drawing you a bath in the jacuzzi and once you’re dressed we’re going to… your favorite store, please?”
“Target.”
“Target?”
“Yep.” I grin. That’s probably not the store he was imagining.
“Fine. Target it is.”
