Chapter one
Breeze Thompson
“Thank you for calling Luxe Motors. How may I assist you?” I said into the phone for the fiftieth time this morning. The downpayment special I decided to run proved well worth the hassle. The phones were ringing nonstop, the salesmen were busy with clients, and the waiting room was slowly filling with more buyers waiting to see if they were eligible for our newest imports.
After transferring the caller to the loan officer's queue, I tapped my mouse, woke the screen, checked a couple of emails, and made some appointments.
My office door swung open without a knock, and my head whipped with a frown on my face. When I turned toward the door, my frown was immediately gone when I saw who was standing in the doorway. Tim, standing there looking as fine as sin in his black collar shirt with the Luxe logo, slacks, and dress shoes. He walked in with a bouquet of flowers and a box of pastries, which I assumed were for the rest of the staff. Pushingback from my position, I rounded the oakwood desk and went to embrace him. He set the items on my desk and then wrapped his arms around me.
“I missed you,” he mumbled as we parted, and then his lips fell on mine. I moaned as I kissed him like we had been away from one another for way longer than the two short weeks while he had been travelling to auctions.
“I missed you too,” I said breathlessly through kisses, and he backed me up against the desk.
“You do?” He groaned.
“Mmhmm,” I said as I held the back of his neck and deepened the kiss.
He took his hand off my butt and looped it inside my belt, undoing it. Then he pulled at the waist of my slacks and snapped the button loose. Before I knew it, he had tugged at the zipper and had begun to pull my pants down over my hips.
“Mrs. Thompson, your first appointment has arrived a bit early. Are you prepared? Or would you like for me to have them wait in the lobby until you’re ready?” My receptionist, Natalie, said over the intercom.
As soon as he heard her, Tim exhaled and rested his forehead against mine.
“Make them wait,” he pleaded as he peppered kisses along my jawline and into my neck.
I quickly grabbed his wrist to stop him, then pulled my pants up. Gently, I nudged him back before moving around my desk to face him from the other side.
“Good morning, Natalie. You can have them wait for a second while I finish up here, and I’ll let you know when to send them up.” I said with a raised eyebrow as I glanced over at the expression on Tim’s face with a smirk.
“Gotcha,” she responded before I heard the intercom disconnect.
Tucking in my button-down, I looked at the bulge in Tim’s pants and ran my hands over it.
“I’ll see you at lunch,” I teased as I zipped my slacks and fastened my belt before running my hands over my clothing to ensure that I didn’t look like what had just been seconds away from happening.
“You don’t listen,” Tim scoffed as he repositioned himself in his pants and closed some of the space between us again.
“We have all the time in the world. I have to take this client,” I bit my lip as I leaned up to kiss him again.
“I love you.” He sighed.
“I love you more,” I said as he picked up the pastries and walked back toward the door. I blushed as I watched him walk into the hallway.
Once he was gone, I took a seat back in my office chair and pressed the intercom to speak to Natalie.
“Hey, Nat. You can send them up.” I said as I unlocked my computer screen and pulled up the sale documents I needed.
Owning a business with your husband has its pros and cons. Tim often assumed he could walk into the office and have me bent over the desk whenever he pleased. Usually, he did, but not today. I had a client to meet and couldn’t step out to shower or change.
Tim and I had been together since middle school, when I would sneak late-night phone calls to him after my mother went to sleep. He had been the love of my life since we were twelve.
Now at thirty-two, we are twenty years into our love story, and he still gives me the same butterflies as he did when he told me to meet him by the lockers and I had my first kiss. I wouldn’t change a thing about our journey. Tim is really my person, and he’s so patient with me. His being fine as hell is just an added bonus.
Tim is tall, brown-skinned, clean-cut, but covered in tattoos that give him his street look. Contrary to his outer appearance, he’s one of the best businessmen I know and is great at what he does at our two dealerships.
He’s not only smart but driven. The kind of man that people respect when he walks into a room. He built Luxe Motors from the ground up. He’s always had a love for cars, so what started as him going to auctions to buy and resell them blossomed into two car dealerships. He started the business while I was in college and earned a degree. Now we are the dream team and building an empire.
Breaking me out of my daydream about my man were two knocks at the door.
