The limo swerved, and I hung onto him, pulling him closer, not wanting to get thrown aside and wind up embarrassingly on the floor.

Jasper knew what I wanted, and I was grateful that he wasn’t in the mood for teasing or holding back. He filled me with one hard thrust, and I yelped in delight. So thick and hard and ready—and mine. All of him, all ofthis. Jasper with his pale skin and lean body. Him and his ferocious sexual hunger, his finely tuned lovemaking skills and his repeated confessions that he desired only me.

That thought was enough to send my passion spiking and tensing as ripples of insane pleasure rolled through me, leaving me sighing and panting in his ear.

Moments later, after Jasper had withdrawn from me and we’d fixed ourselves the best we could, I laid my head on his shoulder, relishing in the afterglow of our lovemaking.

“Did you ever find out how the police knew you were at my home?” I asked. It was something that had crossed my mind fleetingly, but I’d been a little too distracted to ask until now.

“Eddie said that the tip came from a man who spotted us leaving the restaurant the day we went to the Greek festival.”

“I told you it was a bad idea for us to go out!” I slapped his chest, and he chuckled, grabbing my hand and kissing it before intertwining our fingers.

“Sorry.” He hardly looked apologetic, kissing my forehead. “At least it all worked out in the end, I guess?”

“Mhm,” I pursed my lips, tilting my face up to offer him my lips for a kiss. All was forgiven once he did.

The next day, I decided to take an extended lunch break and head over to Jasper’s. It was his first day back in his office, so I wanted to surprise him with lunch. When I arrived at his office building, I was ushered into the elevator with no questions asked. This was my first time at his office in the city, but it seemed that his employees recognized me. Getting up to the final floor where the executive offices were located was easy enough, but the receptionist’s desk, which was the first thing visible upon stepping out of the elevator, was empty.

I contemplated waiting for her to get back to show me to his office, but I decided to search his name out on the doors. After passing by three offices, I finally saw his gold-plated name. I heard noises coming from inside, so I knew he was in there.

Coming closer to the door, I sported a large smile on my face as I clutched the lunchbox that I’d prepared for him closer to my body and gave the door a quiet knock. I cracked it open a few moments later and peeked inside, my eyes widening as I caught sight of entangled naked legs on the sofa—the smaller, shaved legs were splayed, while one of the bigger, hairy legs were bent at the knee on the sofa and the other rested on the floor — and the unmistaken sounds of pleasure. I backed away to give the couple privacy until I spotted something familiar on the man’s calf. The superman logo tattoo!

I let out a surprised laugh, shaking my head as I backed away from the door. It was as if I’d checked out of my own body, hardly registering the sound of my heavy footsteps thudding against the tiled floor as I ran back to the elevator, and then out of the building.

Jasper

It had been a long day, and I’d forgotten just how draining it could be to sit in a suit and talk about legalities until it felt as if my head would explode, but it was all worth it in the end when I stepped inside of SharpEats and smelled the familiar aroma of spices and seasonings in the air. Coming back here after a long day felt like coming back home, mostly because I knew Quinn was here.

It only took a few seconds for me to spot her. She was wearing her beautiful yet tired smile as she stood beside a table that sat near the back, speaking to a family of six. The four kids seemed to be chattering away about the food, making animated gestures as they did. I could tell by the abashed smile on her face and the way she bent down, laughing as she waved them off that they were complimenting it.

I watched the interaction with a wide smile on my own face, taking the time to study Quinn’s beautiful features. Her skin glowed in restaurant lighting, her curves filled out her uniform and she looked just as gorgeous in it as she did in anything else. I could tell when someone complimented her because her eyes would widen before her smile appeared. Her locs–not plaits as I had originally thought–were pulled up into a large bun, a few falling over face occasionally.

It had never occurred to me, before meeting her, that someone could besobeautiful.

I intended to tell her that when I walked over to her after the family had left, but when she spotted me, she didn’t give me her usual smile and hug in greeting. Instead, Quinn turned to walk back toward the kitchen. I followed after her, wondering if something had happened with Gran or the kids.

“Quinn?”

“I’m busy, Jasper.”

I frowned at her dry tone, my brows furrowing as I tried to figure out what could be wrong. She seemed happy last time I spoke to her. Maybe it had been a rough day at work. “Are you okay? Did any customers get handsy with you?”

“I’m fine. The customers have been fine.”

“Well, there must be something wrong,” I chuckled. “I haven’t gotten my hug or ki–”

“You have a lot of nerve,” she snapped, finally turning to look at me. “You’re never satisfied, are you? I’d think you’d have already gotten all thelovethat you wanted for the day.”

“What are you talking about?”

“I don’t have time for this, Jasper. I need to get back to work.”

She stormed off without another word and I huffed, biting at the inside of my cheek as I slowly turned to make my way over to an empty table. If she wasn’t going to talk to me right now, I’d just have to wait until she finished her shift.

It was a little over two hours later when I made my way back toward the kitchen. I made it just in time to see her trying to hightail it out the door and up to the apartment.
